Bridal Shower menu help

Laura, on February 5, 2011 at 9:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Good morning everyone Smiley smile My mom is trying to book my shower and she has it narrowed down to two places. Both of them are available on the day we decided (April 16) so mom is trying to figure out which place would be better. One location we have to bring everything-food, drinks, linens, etc. The other place has a couple of luncheon menus that mom is considering. She is trying to keep it very nice, but also watching her wallet with all of the other expenses. One of the options that provides the food would be a soup and salad buffet. Several types of soup, all the fixings for a salad including chicken and steak, and bread and butter. We are also going to be bringing in our own cake. So my question is, does that sound like enough food? Is it going to look like we are "cheaping out" by only providing this? I keep thinking about it, and I love being able to make a good salad and it fills me up good, but I want your honest opinion about this. Mom wants to book ASAP. Thank you Smiley smile

I actually think that sounds like a great idea. The key is the time in my opinion. I recently threw a shower for me SIL and since money is tight, I and the other cohost opted to do a dessert shower. We planned it at a time when people wouldn't be expecting a full meal.

If you want to provide a full meal, a salad and soup bar would be a great option. There would be lots of variety so everyone should find something they like. I wouldn't consider it "cheaping out" at all.

Soup and salad would be a nice lunch IMO. I'd love going to your shower because it'd also be easy to stick to a diet and not be tempted by all the "bad" things Smiley smile

Bridal showers are mostly a girls thing and I think girls are much more accepting of a soup/salad lunch than men would be. Most of the time when I go out for lunch, i'll order soup and salad anyway.

Thanks ladies! We were thinking about doing the shower at 1. So I am sure that the guests will at least eat a late breakfast or have a snack before they go. Danielle, I was also thinking the same line as you-ladies won't feel bad chowing down on the food!

I think its a fine idea. I like soup and salad and wouldn't think you are trying to cheap out at all. Especially if it has all the fixings like chicken and whatnot.

I think a soup and salad buffet is a great idea. FYI I am not on a diet and STILL think it sounds good.Smiley smile

I think it's more than fine especially for lunch. And it sounds simpler than having to deal with bringing all your own stuff in.
