Bridal Purse: A must or not?

red67ashle, on February 26, 2010 at 12:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Do you guys think you would actually use a bridal purse on your wedding day or is it kinda a waste of money?

Do you just mean a purse that says bride on it? I got a tote bag for my bridal shower, and I used to take it to meetings with my planner and I had my binder of info in it. And I did bring it to the wedding with a few odds and ends in it. And I also carried it after the wedding for about a month.

No I mean like a clutch or something like that, that you would have on your day with nessesities in like touch up makeup and such.

A must! i mean you prob wont be carrying it around the whole time but you definately need something to hold your emergency necessities- lip gloss, fabric tape, compact...

I can't imagine having to carry anything else around all night! We went back to the room to tie up my bussle and fix my makeup after the ceremony, so there was no need to have something all the time. Keep in mind, you have a boquet to carry too! I think as long as you have access to a space to keep your things, stow them there and go get them if you need them. You could also have a BM carry your essentials for you.

I have one and yes I fully intend to use it for exactly what you just said, makeup, breath mints, hand sanitizer (don't ask), etc. I never found one that made quite the statement I wanted but I have one that coordinates well with my shoes so that's what I have. I'm not even carrying my bouquet into the reception. I'll have a toss one already there and I'll just carry my clutch.

I never even considered this actually. For me I think it would be too much to carry around with me. Maybe I will have someone like my mom keep some stuff on her like makeup or something. My FH and I are getting a room but it is for after the ceremony. I am just afraid that if I did have a clutch or something that I might put it down somewhere and forget about it. Plus I don't want a whole lot of things to carry around with me. Hence having my mom or someone else maybe hold onto something for me.

Unique you could have just dropped your lip gloss in one of the pool table pockets and you'd have been fine! LOL!!!

I totally agree with Analy.....and I've never heard of carrying a purse around with you all night. No way I would have done that.

You don't have to carry it around. I just plan to have it with my essentials. I will probably leave it on my seat at the head table or leave it with my mom b/c I know she's going to sit right at the table and not move more than 2 inches the whole time lol.

@red67Ashle - First.. LOVE Savannah, beautiful town, one of my favorite stops on our regatta tour, although the sailing there is SUPER challenging. We actually stayed at the Avia one year!

Analy pretty much summed it up... I have NEVER shot a wedding where a bride had a purse. Maybe the mother carried everything for her. As others have said, the purse and numerous tote bags are usually on hand for getting ready, and they all stay there. You'll already be passing the bouquet off all the time. If there is the prospect of "Womanly products required" you could cover that with your bathroom baskets or have a bridesmaid carry for you. Unless your dress is more along the lines of an evening gown, or has a detachable train, you're going to need help going to the bathroom anyway.

Thanks all very helpful! I think I've come to a decision, while I wont get one for the wedding and reception (since I will have a room at the venue, since we are going downtown afterwards I will get one for that. Smiley smile
