And some other very rude comments.

I went to a salon that one of my close friends recommended to try on dresses, as she found her wedding dress there and had loved her consultant. When I arrived, my consultant asked me to please wait because she was finishing up with another client. I ended up waiting about 30 minutes, but I didn't mind, because I figured that meant she gave each client her utmost attention.

Well, after we did introductions, the consultant found out my wedding was a year away. She said, "Hasn't anyone told you the proper time to get a wedding dress?" I must have looked befuddled (likely because of her tone), and she said, "You're way too early. You'll find a dress you love now, then you'll get fat before the wedding at then it won't fit anymore."

I was absolutely floored she would say that, but kept my cool, and said, "Actually, I've been this size, weight, and shoe size since middle school. I don't think it'll be changing within the next year." She replied snarkily, "Well, you never know, do you?"

I then showed her pictures of dresses I really liked (IE, long sleeves, ballgowns) and she proceeded to pull everything but those styles (sleeveless, mermaid style fit...). Finally after the 4th dress, I asked, "Do you maybe have something with sleeves?" She said she did, so we tried that dress, but I hated the drop waist on it. I told her so, and she replied, "Well, you'll have to tolerate it for the next dress I chose, because it has a drop waist too. You should just try and like it."

She also kept putting clips on the dress after we had already walked out to show my party, which was awkward to hold my dress up in the bust and have it be slipping around slightly while she fumbled with the clips. I asked if we could maybe do the clips in the dressing room, and she told me, "Hey sweetie, I know how to do my job, it's okay," with a little laugh.

When my party would offer their opinion on the dress, she would chime in with comments like, "Yeah, you're right, that really does look awful on her!" or "No groom wants to see a bride with a tummy pooch like that."

She cut our appt off half an hour early (which I was thankful for at that point), and told me that I should try coming back closer to my wedding date, reminding me again that "I'll know what size you'll actually be then." It just felt so impersonal and awful, it put me off shopping for a while. Hope I'm not the only one with horror stories like this.

Please go to the stores website and leave comments regarding this visit. Her comments were so unprofessional and rude. Please do not let her rudeness affect you. Pick some other shops and go for it.....also, she is wrong as you are at the perfect time to buy a dress as most dresses take 6-9 months to get in. Good luck!

Write reviews everywhere and call the manager to complain, and have anyone who was with you do the same. That consultant deserves to lose her job.

You are super nice. i would’ve shown my behind right away if she behaved that way to me & i would’ve left after. definitely write reviews on all sites. that’s absolutely disgusting that someone would treat you that way. no one like that should be helping people plan for a special day in their life. ugh, i’m so sorry you went through that.

Yikes that women is so lucky you kept your cool. Defintley don't go back there and make sure you let everyone know what a horrible experience it was and the name of the lady who "helped you"

I had trouble as well. None of the dresses they brought me to try on were the styles I had asked for. I even picked out some I wanted to try on and they never made it to me. When I complained about beading scratching my arms underneath she was like no wedding dress is comfortable. I even went back for a second try and again they never brought me the style I wanted.

Definitely review them online to warn others, and you should file a complaint with the manager too! That’s unacceptable and the consultant shouldn’t get away with it. You shouldn’t have been treated like that. I’m sorry you had to go through that! I would’ve walked out as soon as the rude comments started. I started dress shopping a year out, and I thought it was the perfect time. Good luck with finding your dress!

And, THAT is exactly why I am NOT looking forward to dress shopping. However, you are much more sensible and polite than I because I would have told her off in a heartbeat. That was NO way to treat a patron.

I had a good experience with the salon I went to for my wedding gown, but when I went back for BM dresses I was treated pretty poorly. They put us with a different consultant (the first was amazing) and she ignored us the whole time. Didn't show us where the BM dresses were (in a small room in the back of the store...tiny selection) and told us to "just pick what you like and hang it in a dressing room." Well we didn't know about the tiny room so we pulled from the main floor and later learned they were prom dresses. When we found a dress we liked, the amazing consultant from my first appointment came over and helped us, showed us swatches etc. She couldn't believe no one explained anything to us. Later we saw our original consultant huddled in a corner pointing and laughing with a coworker. I can only imagine it was because my BM's and I are older. I am in my 30's and my BM's (my older sisters) are in their 40's. It really made me sad and I didn't purchase the dress they liked.

WOAH! Please leave terrible reviews EVERYWHERE. NO ONE should have to go through that and I'm SO SO sorry that you did. I'm a really self-conscious person so I made sure to look up reviews before I went to any bridal shops because I would not be able to mentally handle harsh negative comments from the consultant. Please know that your other appointments will not be like this! Don't let this ruin everything for you! There are millions of stores out there that will treat you with respect and give you amazing customer service.

Wow I am so sorry I would go in and ask specifically for the manager in person and say the following

    Hi manager

I booked a appointment with you guys after my friend found her dress here. I was excited because her experience here was great. I too wanted a experience like she had. As you know the dress is important to every bride unfortunately when I had my appointment with you guys last week. I left close to tears my consultant Amanda criticized me didn't listen to my wants sleeves, ball gown etc... And when I tried to ask her simple her she snapped at me and said I know how to do my job now I have a budget OF 1,500 dollars for my dress I can either go to another store name the most expensive store but I would like to give you my business.

I am so sorry that happened to you! I would certainly be having a conversation with the owner. Customer service is a big part of that experience and if she can't be kind to customers, she needs to find a new job.

Try your best to forget about that experience and pick a new place to try. Most people are going to be kind and helpful!

What the hell?!?!?!? That is awful! Do not go back there. Please erase what the horrible woman said out of your mind and go somewhere else. Nobody should have an experience like that, call the store manager or owner and tell them what happened

That is awful service, and I'm sorry you had that experience. You need to complain to the manger, write bad reviews, etc. Don't most bridal consultants work on commission? It seems so weird that this woman would be so cruel and guarantee not making a sale that day.

Give your business to a salon that actually helps you Smiley smile
