Anyone else have trouble breathing in your wedding dress??!! I was told it had to be tight (to stay up) and that I wouldn't be able to take deep breaths. No wonder brides faint!!

I want to look beautiful, BUT be comfortable. Mine is tight, but I can take a deep breath.

Mine is definitely a bit difficult to breathe in. I noticed that it was a bit snug at my last fitting, but didn't think anything of it. And I totally forgot that I would need to sit. Ugggh.

My final fitting is in 6 days and wedding is in 14, so it's probably too late to have them take it out. I'll move on to plan B: yogurt, juice, and vegetables for the next 14 days

As far as the altering of my dress was concerned I told the seamstress, breathing is overrated as long as I look skinny, so cinch it tight!! Smiley smile

I would ask her to take it out a little, or maybe add some boning to help keep it up? You look beautiful in your dress!!! Great choice!!

Oh Carole, you make my day!!! Yeah, what's up with the weight loss in the bubbies? That's never happened to me before. Why couldn't the anxiety weight loss happen in my chicken wings? For the love.

Anyway your bubbies look amazing! I would never have even noticed if you hadn't said something, and even so it just looks like you're mid-stride.

If one of your bubbies was doing this I would question Frank's standards but you look amazing, lady!!!

Carole and Kris you two crack me up!!!

Kara - I can't breathe in my dress but not by choice. I just have been stressed and actually gained weight. It fit like a glove when I got it but I could def move.

The dress looks great on you so I wouldn't go up a size I would just get it taken out a tiny bit. The week before your wedding stay away from foods that cause you to bloat and drink plenty of water.

Its like a strapless bra, they are tight but they dont cut off circulation or make you not breathe, someone is crazy!

No you need to be able to breathe or you will end up like my cousin. The top of her dress some of the stitching popped because her dress was too tight. You could see the back of her bra as she walked down the aisle, the whole thing looked off because her dress was hanging a little too low.

If it is so tight you can't breathe, you can't drink or eat because that will make your belly stick out a little and would probably burst your dress. That is if you haven't fainted before. What the heck. Of course you need to be able to take deep breathes. You look amazing in your dress but it won't do any harm if they take out a bit so you actually get to enjoy your night.

Thank you ladies! The photo I posted was actually taken when I first bought the dress (months ago), before the fitting. It's even tighter now if you can believe it, but I really feel it most around my ribs when I (try to) take a deep breath.

This CANNOT get in the way of eating/drinking/dancing! Take it OUT!

    OMG Carrie that's crazy!

Kara, when is the latest you can go in for an alteration? I used a private seamstress so thankfully I was able to get my dress taken in on Wednesday before our wedding. I just seriously was so nervous that I shrunk like a raisin that last week. She said all her brides do that so she doesn't even schedule the final fitting until 3-4 days before the wedding. God bless that woman!!

Kris...I think if that kind of bubbie turned him on, than I would be in trouble. : ) Thanks for the comp, but that bubbie is ready to be freed for breathing.

Kara...Seriously, I couldn't zip Cate's back. I had to call DH. He tried and it wouldn't budget. He whispered, "Go get the needle nose plyers." I didn't want Cate to hear or she would have freaked. So, I held the top hook, while he used the plyers to pull it up. I am sure we looked like the "Two Stooges".

    Good luck!

I feel like one of those old-timey ladies in mine, like I might "get the vapors" or something, 'cause it's all corsetted and while I can breathe, I can't take really really deep breaths.

Kara - You look lovely in your dress! Your dress should be fitted at the waist and hips, and as long as it has boning it will not fall down as long as it is anchored at the waist. You can have the bodice let out so you can breathe!!!! You don't want to be uncomfortable on the most important day of your life! Find yourself a great seamstress and have it let out.

At my last fitting, I noticed it was a little difficult to take deep breaths as well but it was because of the corset she had sewn into it being so tight. I ended up having her remove the corset anyway because it gave me a weird shape, so now I can actually breathe while I'm in my dress!

You need to get it taken out a bit! Mine was way too tight when she first did it. I couldn't breathe and I could barely sit. Just a tiny bit more out and it was a lot better. I was still happy to take it off that night, but I wasn't uber uncomfortable either.

    very pretty, btw!

Breathing? What that? Hah! My dress is tight and heavy but I can breathe in it. It's hard to breathe when it's getting laced but it loosens after a bit and then it's okay!

    Kris - thanks so much!!

Kara you should also remember you will most likely be in your dress for 6+hrs and if you are nervous and can't breathe, you will feel worse if not faint.
