Breaking up venue into 2 rooms

Elizabeth, on March 6, 2020 at 1:35 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 5

We're getting married in a museum, and there are 2 medium sized rooms. One is cool, the other is very ugly. (Lime green painted classroom). In order to fit everyone we want (200 or more), we may need to use both rooms. They're connected by a foyer/large open hallway. I don't want to separate the guests or make anyone feel like the "B-crowd" because they're not in the same room with the bride & groom. I also don't want anyone to miss toasts/first dances/etc. Does anyone have any creative ideas for how to utilize these rooms? We've already done a LOT of cutting down of the guest list. Any ideas to make the best use of the 2 separated spaces without a weird divide, make sure everyone enjoys themselves, and also make sure we can invite the number we want (I want to be able to invite my friends IN ADDITION TO our required giant families)?

So we had dessert and dancing in a separate room than dinner, but I wouldn’t split guests up into two spots during dinner. Is having dancing in one room feasible or is the only way everyone will fit is to seat people in two different rooms?

Is there a way you could sit in the middle of both rooms where the opening is?

Or at least closer to the edge of one room so that you’re near the second too*

We are having our reception in a mansion with multiple rooms. However, dinner will have to be split into different rooms (we are aiming to have just enough people so it doesn’t have to be 2 floors). Dancing will be on another floor/in another room.

That’s the layout and we aren’t cutting our guest list by 50+% to get everyone in one room. Our venue is very experienced with weddings and larger crowds and they provide video from the main room to all rooms throughout the mansion to compensate.
