Breaking In the Wedding Shoes?

Shelby, on September 6, 2018 at 12:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Are you doing anything to break in your heels before the big day? Wearing them around the house? Finding other ways? I had to wear them for my first fitting and after standing still (or pretty still) for an hour, I thought my feet were going to fall off.

I really NEED to! This reminded me!

As an aside, I just got those sticky sponge things for inside the heel of the shoe -- I've avoided them because I thought "meh, won't really do much". OMG they are fantastic!!

I’ve been wearing mine for our dance lessons and that’s helped break them in!

The sticky heel inserts are LIFESAVERS. I wore them on my wedding day - no blisters! I have them in every pair of flats I own now, they're the best!

OP - you should definitely be wearing your shoes around the house with thick socks as much as possible.

I wore mine around the house for hours at a time, and sometimes even with socks to stretch them out a bit, and they still really, really hurt on my wedding day. I don't know why, because they never hurt while I was wearing them around the house.

I would take PP advice and find the heel inserts - I think they might have helped me. My feet kept sliding forward in my shoes, which is what hurt the most. I was so glad to change into my bridal flip-flops after photos were done.

Hi Shelby! The previous posters have given you some really helpful tips that are great for breaking in shoes! You should definitely wear them around to break them in! It's also helpful to wear thick socks to help stretch them out to avoid blisters! What style of shoes are you going to be wearing at your wedding?

I’m going to wear mine around my apartment as I want to break them in and I want to be able to walk in them as well. I will probably get some flats for the reception for after the dance as I know my feet will kill

I didn't wear heels, but flats. I took them to work Let me break them in for 8 hours a day.

Do you have a desk job that you could wear them to and warn those around you that you might look silly a few times?

I have been walking around the house in mine every so often. I actually just put them on right now.

FH and I decided to take a few dance lessons to make sure we don't look like fools when we're out there, I'm wearing my shoes there, clean floors so they're not scuffed and completely breaking them in...

I don’t wear heels as much as I used to, but I’ve never had much trouble breaking them in. Maybe I have a high pain tolerance lol. I actually wore my shoes to a wedding a few weeks ago and I was fine in them all night. (They’re nude strappy heels, so I didn’t look like I was wearing bridal shoes at someone else’s wedding.) I may wear them around the house a bit just to make sure I’m comfy in them as they’re slightly higher than I typically wear.
