Hahaha, so after doing a quick search on this site about the topic, it seems like a lot of people hate this idea. They think it's tacky and cheap. But hey! We love breakfast, and everyone we know and love knows we're paying for this ourselves. It's not going to be a super formal wedding. It will...

But hey! We love breakfast, and everyone we know and love knows we're paying for this ourselves.

It's not going to be a super formal wedding. It will however be very southern.

My question is, who has done this before and how did it go?

Also, thought about doing something like this!

We’re doing this- brunch for dinner! So excited and our guests are excited about the food too!! Our venues chef is super into this and is loving our custom menu. We are having a Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar (as well as a full bar) and doing a donut hole table instead of a candy buffet. For cocktail hour we have a fruit and cheese display and hand passed shrimp cocktail and mini quiches (goat cheese & spinach). Our buffet dinner has egg strata, crab cake eggs Benedict, apple stuffed French toast, potatoes o’brian, carved ham, chorizo patties, and open-faces focaccia sandwiches (ham salad, egg salad, chicken salad, and lox and cream cheese).

We just did our tasting last month and it was amazing!! I’ll have to share how it goes over in April Smiley smile

As someone who HATES typical breakfast foods, I say if you want it then have it. People who don’t want it can eat before hand or not go.

Maybe hardier southern breakfast for dinner. You know your crowd best. shrimp and grits, biscuits, french toast, carving station, steak/eggs, chicken/waffles, salmon...i think would be good options. You could also have appetizers that are brunch themed. Sounds like a good idea to me. So less bacon and eggs and toast ihop style but upgraded style sounds yum.

Not that this won't be tasty and i love bkfst, but I don't see eating bkfst and them drinking and dancing. I agree with the brunch wedding if you heart is set on bkfst.

I wouldn’t like this because eggs, and pretty much all breakfast foods, make me feel sick. But if your crowd likes it, then go for it. Just make sure you take everyone into consideration so they don’t have to stop at McDonald’s on the way home.

I agree if it’s a Saturday night wedding this really doesn’t fly. I’d be pretty bothered to eat breakfast then cake while drinking. I would need a real substantial meal.

People on this site can be harsh sometimes. It’s your wedding, so do what YOU (and fh) want! I love this idea. I wish I saw this before I booked my food vendor!

I think it would be a great idea! If you both love breakfast, you should go for it! I agree with others, maybe having a carving station would be great for adding meats in. You definitely want to provide a good variety of breakfast foods. Maybe adding a few brunch foods for those who don’t love breakfast as much.

Breakfast... YUM! I do agree with others. maybe heighten the food. Like as steak and eggs or chicken and waffles. Or eggs Benedict instead of scrambled eggs. Fancy breads with all different cheese and jam spreads. and maybe a crepe station with a topping bar to make it a little more formal and fun too Smiley smile

OP asked for opinions and that’s what we’re giving. I’m sure OP wants honesty, not validation.

Personally I'd add more to the menu. Such as crepes (the fruit kind), country fried steak, maybe some biscuits and gravy. Otherwise I don't see a problem with it.

I personally would love this - I LOVE breakfast! Smiley smile But I think this is definitely a know your crowd kind of thing; not everyone likes breakfast food (my husband rarely eats it). And if you do breakfast food, make sure there is plenty and lots of protein options (and vegetarian options), not just carbs/starches.

I am a complete lover of breakfast, but I would not want it at a Saturday night wedding. Maybe a late night snack of chicken & waffles or something along those lines. But breakfast rarely fills me up and when I am drinking I need a good base. This is just my opinion, you do whatever you both want!
