Breakfast for Dinner

Texasdiosa, on January 11, 2018 at 5:19 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 52
Hahaha, so after doing a quick search on this site about the topic, it seems like a lot of people hate this idea. They think it's tacky and cheap.

But hey! We love breakfast, and everyone we know and love knows we're paying for this ourselves.

It's not going to be a super formal wedding. It will however be very southern.

My question is, who has done this before and how did it go?

Also, thought about doing something like this!

If you want breakfast, couldn’t you just have a brunch wedding?

We are doing breakfast (we are having a daytime wedding). However, I personally see nothing wrong with doing breakfast for dinner. As long as you are providing enough catered food and drink for your guests, go for it!

I'd rather not try to do 100 things in 4 hours.

I love breakfast for dinner but I would never do it for a wedding unless it’s a brunch reception.

I don't see a problem with doing this personally. It definitely doesn't have a formal feel to it, but as long as that's not the vibe you want then go for it. Make sure you have plenty of options and a lot of food - for some reason I would eat way more breakfast food than I would at a regular dinner buffet (that may just be me). But as long as you're feeding everyone a proper meal, I don't see an issue

It’s cute, but could you do a buffet with the breakfast food and some dinner options (especially if it’s an evening wedding)? If i went to an evening wedding that served just breakfast food, i would be pretty hungry since im not a big fan of breakfast food

I don't mind the idea of breakfast for dinner as long as there really is enough food for all to get full, but I don't really care for the sign. It seems like someone's trying to rationalize a cheap meal.

I think you would need more food to make sure people had enough choice. Like I hate pork. So if that was my only protein option, I would end up sick only eating carbs and fruit.

That sounds so fun! Especially if it shows off your personalities! I think it would be cute and different. Honestly whatever makes you and FH happy is all that matters, because it your special day.

I love this breakfast food is my favorite. Don’t much care for the sign and I think there should definitely be more meat options but as long as there’s enough food for everyone to eat their fill then I don’t see why not.

Why not add in a carving station or whatnot? That should help with people who don't like breakfast meat.

Don't forget a mimosa and bloody mary bar!

I love breakfast so I think it’s a neat idea. If your guests know how much you both love breakfast it probably wouldn’t be too off beat for them.
I do think you should have a couple “dinner” options too. Like how a brunch buffet will have a few options if someone wants lunch instead.
You could get creative with this too. I don’t know what is unique to your area but you could do biscuits or scones with assorted toppings, waffle station, coffee cake or muffins, bagels, steak (if someone wanted steak and eggs).... Drinks could be a spiked coffee, mimosa bar, bloody Mary’s.

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this. If it’s a Sunday afternoon and steak and eggs was an option, sure, why not? Saturday night, not so much. I love breakfast but not necessarily from a buffet.

Breakfast food is amazing and as long as there’s enough to satisfy everyone (omelette/pancake/carving stations) there’s nothing wrong with it at dinner time! Definitely agree with PP about mimosa and bloody mary bars, too.

I agree with the others that have mentioned supplemental proteins. Like I’m okay with the idea but the same menu from that pic feels insufficient for dinner. I tend to like a lot of the breakfast sweets (waffles, French toast, fruits) but I need a little something more than that for a dinner meal.

Carving station is a good idea. Ohh and Chicken and waffles !
