Brazilian Wax? Talk to me about it

Mrs.D, on October 30, 2016 at 9:06 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 42

I've never been waxed down there, just shaved. I get my eyebrows waxed all the time though. I am wanting to do this for an upcoming trip to the beach for a week. I don't want to deal with shaving and bumps. Talk to me please about tips, what to expect, advice?

Don't shave at all for a few weeks before and exfoliate the area. Personally, I found a full Brazilian to be extremely painful.

EWC is the best. I have been going and getting Brazilians for a couple years now. Not really painful. Make sure you don't shave in between waxes--that's where it can get painful. 2.5 weeks is a short amount of time but can be done. Are you able to wait until it gets closer to the beach trip?

EWC really is the best so you'll be in good hands.

I've been getting Brazilians for 5 years now and I haven't looked back. Make sure you exfoliate beforehand and take Ibuprofen about 30 minutes to an hour before! Do not shave before or in between, the hair needs to be long enough to grab. Eventually it will grow back in thinner and lighter over time. Now I go about every 3-4 weeks

Make sure you schedule the appointment at least 1.5weeks before your beach trip because most women get bumps after their first few waxes as the skin adjusts to the trauma of getting all of the hair ripped back. I have been going for 2 years and I still get bumps but I have ultra-sensitive skin. For me the bumps go away about 4-5 days post waxing.

Brazilians are definitely painful, but the pain goes away about 15 seconds after the strip is yanked off.

I wouldn't recommend getting wax right before your beach trip unless you have enough time to do 2 waxings before, so your skin will be better adjusted to it.

My trip is over thanksgiving. So I was wanting to try it now, and go back right before the trip

I used to only get Brazilians. Make sure to go to EWC!! The wax they use is awesome and everything is so smooth afterwards! I moved to a city that didn't have one and I stopped getting Brazilians because I would get terrible bumps from the wax the other salons used.

Anyway, don't shave for at least a week before going. And take a tylenol before you go. Regardless of how many times you go, it hurts!

It hurts like heck, but I still go every month. Totally worth it!

It will take a few months to go "completely bare." Your hair growth rate is different. My waxy lady told me it usually takes about 3 monthly trips to get all of it completely gone. Then you have to maintain monthly to keep it there.

That being said I started because I get nasty ingrowns (sorry if tmi). Waxing has helped tremendously!!

Make sure you're hydrated. Drink plenty of water the days before.

If you go to the European Wax Center you will not regret it! They are the best and do not use strips like other facilities. Their method is different, less painful, and worth every penny. Highly recommended.

I've been considering it too. I hate shaving any part of my body. Mostly because I'm lazy and it seems to take forever. These tips are awesome.

These are def good tips. I'm not sure we have an EWC around here. I've been too afraid to go, I hate getting my eyebrows done. And I'm not sure why because I have tattoos and that doesn't bother me as much as the waxing does haha.

I think getting my eyebrows hurts more than the Brazilian.

It wasn't the most painful thing ever, but certain parts definitely hurt more than others! I usually talk to the women doing it to distract myself haha. Also do not shave or trim too short beforehand, I did that once and the women actually wouldn't wax it because it was too short. I also recommend wearing loose, comfortable pants right to the appointment if possible.

I had a horrible experience getting a wax down there. Haven't done it since. Lol. But I have a friend that loves it and gets it done regularly. Just someone's opinion I guess Smiley smile

    Agree with PP

    -hard wax is a must

-make sure the hair is long enough (between a 1/4 and a 1/2 inch long)

-take advil about half an hour before you go.

-wait 48 hrs and the exfoliate with something light (I like Buffy by Lush because it exfoliates and moisturizes)

It hurts but it's only an immediate pain. It doesn't like sting for a long time
