Bowtie vs long tie

What are your FH's wearing? Are you going with a bowtie or long tie. Just want to see if people typically go with a bowtie. Im trying to find a nice gold bowtie for FH to incorporate our colors into what he'd be wearing then i came across a bunch of long tie pictures. What's your preference

Bow ties and suspenders, but he made the decision on his own and found it all for himself.

Let him choose. My hubby originally wanted to wear a bowtie but then went with a long tie.

My FH is definitely not a bow tie guy so he and his groomsmen wanted long ties. All the groomsmen's ties are silver and his will be black

This is probably a silly question but did you guys see your FH attire before the wedding? Is that a thing or is it like how grooms dont typically see the brides dress before?

FH doesn't care long ties or bowties either way so it's up to me pretty much. That way he can then decide with his BM and groomsmen how they want to style themselves up

@spiffy I was wondering the same thing! I want to go with the guys when they pick up their tuxes so I can see everything and make sure the vision FH and I had worked out but I didn't know if that was weddingly (not a word but it is now) allowed.

It's definitely up to you or FH. I don't think it diminishes anything either way. We personally chose to do the boys in the bowtie for the "cuteness" aspect and FH is going to wear a long tie, but honestly I think everyone would look cute either way... I have just never seen FH in a bowtie.

FH hates bow ties, so he has a long time. But BM loves them. So he'll be in a bow tie.

@Spiffy I went with DH when he picked out his attire. He asked me but I told him since I pick out my attire he was picking out his. I was just there for moral support and to help with our 2 year old son who needed to be fitted as well.

I hate bowties personally. I think regular ties look more elegant

FH and I are going to go together. I think we'll decide based on whatever suit/tux he likes best, we'll see what tie fits it.

He wears both long and bow ties for normal dress up days, so whatever he wants works for me. I did let him know if he wants a bow tie, I'll actually learn how to tie a real one so he can have a true bow tie, tied by his bride for the wedding.

He wants a long tie. We actually plan to surprise his BM and GM with ties that represent their favorite shows/games. One will have a Walking Dead themed tie, the other a World of Warcraft themed tie, and FH will have Star Wars. I told him it didn't matter to me if the ties didn't go with our colors. I felt they would appreciate those more.

Mines not much of a bow tie type of guy. He wore a long tie with a 3 piece suit and hat looked very handsome, if I do say so myself!

@jess&dallas were they like a solid gold color? The gold for our Wedding is all like sparkling glittery gold thats why i originally thought a bowtie that color would be better.

@bobbi thats awesome! I told FH he should think of something nifty to personalize their looks

All the guys in the bridal party will be wearing the same tux, but the groomsmen will wear long black ties and FH will wear a black bow tie to set him apart.
