Bouquet Toss

Brandi, on July 19, 2012 at 1:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I was just thinking what is the appropriate for a female to participate in the bouquet toss? When I get married I will have a jr bridesmaid (age 15) I would feel some sort of way if she was left out, but I'm not sure if its appropriate for her to participate... Thoughts?

All single ladies usually participate. From flower girls to widowed great-aunt Mabel.

She probably won't want to do it any way. but we did ours 18 and over to stay away from that akward moment of our 13 yr daughter or 15 yr old cousin. catching it and one of our 30 yr. male friends catching the garter

I'd say not to put too much thought into it..

However, if you are doing the tradition of having the guy who catches the garter doing something with the girl to catches the bouquet, then maybe an age limit would be appropriate so that no one is embarrassed/uncomfortable..

True, I've only seen the garter put on the bouquet-catcher on TV and have not been to an actual wedding that has done that. If you're planning on doing that part then maybe an age limit would be appropriate.

Ha, I caught the bouquet when I was 10 or so, so as far as I'm aware, any female that's single can participate. Smiley smile

I agree with her participating, even if she doesn't know what it is about exactly, she will have fun Smiley smile

My bouquet toss will be open to all the girls and the song we're using for the put- the-garter-on-the-bouquet-catcher is "OH You Sexy Thang" BUT... my DJ has been instructed that if either of my nieces (13 &15) happen to catch it, they will play "You can't touch This" instead and will fore-go the putting on of the garter! Smiley smile

I wouldn't let anyone under 18 do it at my wedding only bc if the gartar catcher wanted to have fun with it they could and plus if they're under age that would just be awkward IMO. she should be old enough to understand if you choose not to have her do it you can say hey listen do you want this guy touching up your leg lol bc basically that's what they do really. All in all you may be thinking too much into this too and you can just go with it.

Ohhh, I've never seen the garter catcher and the bouquet catcher do anything, so if you're doing something like that you'll probably want to make an age limit.
