Boudoir Photography Session

Valerie, on March 12, 2010 at 12:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

I was just wandering if any of you are or have done a boudoir session. I was having a hard time thinking of what I should get my fiance for the wedding and then I heard about this and I thought it was kind of a neat idea (if done tastefully and kept within a PG13 range) and he would be totally surprised by it because I know he wouldn't think I would do it in a million years. But I am still nervous about it, any suggestions? what to wear?

I am seriously thinking about doing one. Really for me it will all come down to whether my bank account can handle it come time to do it. Just make sure that you find a photographer that you are comfortable with, take a friend with you to ease the tension, and most ladies will recommend a glass of wine or another drink to losen you up :-).

My best friend did one with a photographer in Alabama. They looked great...they went to a bed and breakfast where the room was a little more fancy and took photos...all PG13 and gave them to her husband before the wedding...he loved them!!!

I am planning on doing this. I'm working really hard to get into great shape for the wedding so it's not just for FH but for me to look at and say "I was hot!!!"

You can wear anything that fits your comfort level, if you are into red lacy lingerie, then wear that, if you want to wear a shirt and a tie, go for it. Pears look very good in b-pictures. Cute shoes, high heals, boots, etc. You're a beautiful lady and you want to show off your beauty as a female, that is what this shoot is about.

You have to tell your photog what you're comfortable with, and yes, glass of bubbly might help you to relax, bringing a friend is an excellent idea, and a lot of girls do that and encouraged to do that.

I know most of the girls are more opt for a female photog vs. male, but that's not a necessity, I know a lot of a good male photographers who do an outstanding work. Once again, whoever you go with, should be able to make you feel good about yourself and make you feel beautiful.

    Good luck!

If you can find a gay male photog, hire him! It'll make it easier to relax, trust me! ; )

I have done one before with friends just for fun and it was a little intimidating at first but after a couple shots (camera wise and alcohol wise lol) you start to loosen up. I'm thinking of doing this for FH as well but only if I get in shape in time lol. Have fun!

This is so weird I just booked my session today! I'm so excited! My husband is a huge Steelers fan so I'm sneaking out his favorite jersey and football and that's my theme.

At first I was not up for it but I think it would be a great surprise. I know he would love it. But I'm having trouble finding a vendor with reviews in the Cincinnati, OH area. Any suggestions or leads on how to find a photographer?

Yikes no way. I would be waaay too self-conscious being in such a state of undress around a random photographer. You ladies are brave!!!

I'm thinking about doing this. Except my hubby will be the one taking the photos. He's the only one I would feel comfortable doing it with.

My photographer at my wedding is a friend of mine, so I'm going to have a session with her, because it'll be a lot more comfortable. I'm self-conscious too, and don't think I could do it with anyone besides someone I know personally...

But! Hopefully I'll have a smokin' bod by the time wedding rolls around ;0)

This is a great idea and if you can find a photographer who you are comfortable with I say go for it! These are more personal photos than most, so I would recommend meeting the photographer in person (or at least chat over the phone) to make sure you are comfortable with him or her.

The point (IMO) of these shoots is of course to look sexy, but also to have some fun. You've got to let loose and enjoy it, otherwise it will show in the photos. And if you have insecurities - talk to your photographer! He or she can help pose you in ways that hide your "flaws" (since we all think we have them). Plus, what you wear can also camouflage your flaws if you want. So discuss that with your photographer as well. Don't shy away from doing a shoot just because you are self-conscious! Just talk to your photographer and I promise you'll be happy that you took the plunge!

Agree with ashley daniel. they can help you pose right so your problem areas dont show and so u look super hotttt. like, if you feel like your stomach is a bit much, lay on a bed and lift yourself up and support yourself with your arms, then lean back (which will stretch out your stomach and make it look tighter and flatter) and tilt your head back and give a sex look! lol its one of my favorite poses and i wish i had the guts to do this kind of session!

Hi Danielle, I can recommend you the photographer who is doing my wedding in June. I'm having a Boudoir session with her as well. She's super nice and very easy to work with. She lives in MD, but that's not a problem for her. I also live in Northern VA. Let me know if you want more info!
