Borrowing a wedding dress

Steph, on May 10, 2020 at 12:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
My wedding is supposed to be October 23, maybe postponed to April 9. Anyway I’ve looked for wedding dresses 3 times. Everything looked so tacky. Also, I really feel Wedding’s are just one day so I do not want to spend much for a dress at all. Well now the corona virus happened. A lot of shops for my budget are closed. Then I remembered my aunt saying how I could borrow my cousins dress months ago. My cousin is all about fashion and design so it is a very expensive nice dress she wore it in 2014. Only her family like (4 people) would recognize the dress. It’d be FREE! Well I am going to gift her some money for thanks. But do you think it’s tacky to borrow someone’s wedding dress??

People wear secondhand dresses all the time, I don’t think it’s tacky at all.

I don’t think it’s tacky. One of my friends even rented hers. One of my friends actually offered to lend me her reception dress.

I don’t see why it would be tacky as long as you like it and feel like it’s yours!

Not at all! As long as you like it on you, wear what you wish.

No it's not tacky. Go for it if it makes you feel like a bride and if it's the style you are going for. Why not

Not tacky at all. If I could fit into my moms I would wear hers!

    Hi Steph!

Not tacky at all, PLUS no one will know unless you tell them haha. However, IF you did change your mind and wanted something new that wasn't too expensive, lulus.com has some cute wedding dresses all under $300.

Not at all tacky - just make sure you feel beautiful in it!

If you don't, then they sell cute white dresses in stores (once we can get back in them safely) and online. You can order something you would wear again, if it feels extravagant to buy a dress for one day.

I do wonder why you say that everything looked tacky?

Thanks! Well all the dresses I looked at were in the $200-600 range or on sale. So maybe that’s why they looked tacky to me. I’m just really picky. I want it to look nice but do not want to spend much at all.

If you’re leaning towards having your own dress, check out cocomelody. They have quality dresses in that price range and can customize.

My dress was $400 (full price) - but extremely *simple* so it "felt" higher end if that makes sense
