Boots worn for a wedding - rant

Jess D, on August 5, 2014 at 8:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 70

So I told myself I wouldn't be like this on here but this is getting on my last nerves.

Okay so I decided I want to wear boots at my wedding..

I also want my Bridal Party to wear boots.

My mom says to me "I hope your bridesmaids are wearing long dresses then"

cause SHE thinks it looks repulsive. and tacky

I replied to her "well i guess now I have to"

and she continues on about how tacky it looks, I told her its a good thing you don't have to pay for em them.

So is this wrong?

I think the boots with Bridemaid dresses are really cute. and even some wedding dresses.

It's your wedding. Have it look how you want it too.

I personally feel it is a little overdone and agree that they don't look great with short dresses.

It's all personal opinion. I tend to side more with your mom, but that's just my opinion.

It is all a personal preference so there is no 'wrong' to it. Do what you want, it's your wedding!

If you're looking for another opinion, as much as I am in love with cowboy boots (I own a couple pair), I will be leaving them in my closet on my wedding day. I don't like the look of them with formal gowns and I definitely think they will be looked back upon as a "What was I thinking?!" moment.

Smiley smile I am doing whatever length dresses my maids choose (long or short) with tall boots...it is winter and high heels seem silly to me. My maids have said that they like the option and I like that they can pick whatever they want. So far everyone in my world happy. If the guests don't like it and think it is tacky then well that is too bad...I hope they like something else that they can focus on instead. Smiley smile

Do as you want unless you think it is a big deal for your mom and you...then maybe find a middle ground.

It is YOUR wedding, so do what YOU want but I tend to agree with the other ladies. It's something that is trendy now and you may regret it when you look at your photos later. A wedding gown usually is formal and boots detract from that.

I've seen it done and I thought it was cute. It's a personal decision, and comes down to what you, your FH, and the people who actually have to wear them think.

It all depends on the tone of your wedding. They're very cute for a less formal wedding, but if you're wearing a ballgown and getting married in an ornate church, then I agree with your mother. If your having your reception in a barn, then by all means, go for it!

It's your wedding and if that's what you & your FH want then who cares? I've seen boots worn with shorter dresses and it looks really cute. If that was what I was going for with my wedding then I'd probably do the same. If this is what you want then I'm sure you won't have any regrets.

Getting married in a fire hall and do not plan on wearing a ball gown. like I want it to be a nice dress but I also want to wear boots, since its a rustic wedding.

I mean should i weat sandals or dressy shoes for the ceremony and the change into boots (dressy boots not like casual boots)for the reception?

If i wore dressy boots would that look good? i mean I just trying to figure everything out.

I wanted my bridal party (bridemaids) to wear boots and they all seem to like the idea, planning on having the dresses knee length, but mine will be long

I think they are cute when you are doing country style wedding. I think they would actually look odd if you had long dresses

I think if it is what you want then do it. I have seen a lot of pictures where it is done and it is cute in the right setting. Rustic and country weddings are big on brides and their party wearing boots.

One of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders was married at our Venue and she wore boots with her dress and it was cute. Here is a pic a found and like I said with the right dresses, it is cute. It's your wedding and it should be the way you like it.

I generally hate the whole, it's your day comment. I'm going to give people cheese and crackers cause it's my day. I'm going to spend my budget on a dress and you can hum to entertain yourself. You know it's my day after all.

But I think this is where you can make things to what you want because it is your style and your day.

That's funny, because I think bridesmaids with long dresses and boots would be strange looking. I posted this pic in an earlier post today, but I have a friend who just got married in Oklahoma and she and her girls wore boots. I thought it was adorable!

I think it's cute but I'm not doing the boot thing because I have expensive taste in boots (I'm a real 'cowgirl') and I could never expect my girls to pay that much for boots to wear in my wedding.

I love the boot look with the dresses! But I would not recommend white boots. Please don't get white boots! lol!
