Booking The Wedding Venue

Maddie, on June 10, 2019 at 2:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
My fiancé and I just got engaged a month ago tomorrow and we already booked our venue. Our wedding isn’t until 10/17/2020, did we book to early?

Nope we booked 18 months out and it was great because we got 2018 prices, a popular weekend date, and then we could start planning colors and vendors and logistics.

Not at all! You likely saved yourself a bit of money booking early, many venues change their prices every new year.

Just keep in contact, check their website for any news. It is not uncommon for venues to renovate or update without contacting you. Maybe ask if they have any plans to update in the near future. You may be able to give some input on new carpet or flooring considering you will be one of the first to use the space.

We booked our venue in August 2018 for our October 2020 wedding. I'd just occasionally email and/or call to make sure nothing has changed with them during the wait.

Not at all! We booked ours and our wedding isn’t until November 2020! It’s better to book ahead since dates fill up fast in places!

Never too early! We are getting married May 2020 and booked our venue in November 2018, a few months after we got engaged. I already booked a photographer and caterer too, since they are already starting to have limited availability and we are still a year out! Always the earlier the better when it comes to wedding planning.

I don't think so. We're going tomorrow to look at the venue we think we want for our 2021 wedding. If it works for us, we'll be booking it early too!

Nope! We're 11/7/20 and booked our ceremony and reception venues last month. Hoping to have our photographer and DJ booked soon too 🤞🏻 I figured the sooner we got the big things locked down, the less stressful everything will be!

I think you're good. We booked in June 2018 for September 2019. I think venue is most important because you can't set a date for sure without it.

No! I feel like getting the venue makes EVERYTHING else easier, you're able to set your date and ask the vendors questions. We got engaged May 8th and I had venue May 18th for June 2020. Don't second guess yourself!

Definitely not! We booked our venue the day after we got engaged in April for our wedding next February. I was so nervous that our date was going to get booked since we were less than a year out, and our date (Leap Day) is a really popular day to get married. October is super popular to get married in so it’s a good thing you booked it already!

Nope. Booked my venue about a month ago and we're getting married 9.27.20. I wanted some very popular vendors, so I knew I needed a venue first. Also locked in the DJ, photographer, officiant, and ceremony/cocktail hour violinist. Likely won't go with a florist as I'm entertaining sola flowers instead. Only thing I really need is wedding gown vendor and makeup/hair. Attending a trunk show this Saturday...so who knows!

Fall is popular and I wanted the best options!

No. In my opinion the earlier you book the better so no one else takes it. Smiley smile

Not at all! The earlier the better when it comes to wedding planning. My fiancé and I booked our venue practically 2 years before. A lot of places change their pricing yearly, certain seasons are really popular and there’s only so many Friday and Saturdays to choose from.

Not at all! Venues are one of the things that go the fastest so getting it early is good!
