Booking a Venue

Hi everyone!!

My fiance and I found our dream wedding venue and we even went on a tour on Saturday. On Saturday, the person in charge of weddings told us we could email her ask for a proposal quote, which I sent her a request on Saturday night. It's Thursday and I still haven't heard from her. I even called and left a voicemail Wednesday stating that my fiance and I want to see if our date is available thinking maybe she'll respond sooner to that because we sound 100% ready to book. It's getting frustrating because I just want this part to be done with since everything else relies on the venue.

Is it normal for someone to take this long to get back to you when booking a wedding venue? I don't want to be spamming her, but at the same time, this is really important! Thoughts?

    Well, it's hard to say for sure, but let me tell you about my venue and coordinator. We had a similar situation when we first visited our venue. But after days with no response, I was starting to get pissed, and was ready to start looking at other places. I was especially peeved because the coordinator at this venue is a friend of my sister's, and she told me how great this woman was. Well, then I finally heard back from her (6 days later), and she told me this: because she is the coordinator for the venue, and many of their events happen on the weekends, she is often not around during the week. She is sometimes there, but not in the office, checking emails. Her regular work schedule is Thursday--Monday, with Tues. and Wed. off. Even then, she said she often only works at the venue on Fri-Sat-Sun because she is needed to coordinate the events. So, she apologized for how long it took for her to get back to me. But once she explained about her schedule, I totally understood, and felt bad about being mad at her.

    Now I know when I send her an email, if it's in the middle of the week, she's not likely to get back to me until at least the weekend. And that's ok. So far there hasn't been anything urgent where I needed her to respond quicker than that.

    So, maybe give this person a few more days to get back to you. Another option may be to visit the venue again, and try to talk to her in person. Some people just aren't very good about keeping up with their emails.

    Thanks for the advice! I guess I'll just wait and see despite how nerve wracking it is haha we're dead set on our date and waiting for a response from her has me crazy! I feel bad though because I know it's JUST her in charge of everything so I don't want to spam her. Visiting would be hard as the venue is two hours away but fingers crossed here!

    My dream venue ghosted me. Why. I’m literally trying to give you $10,000. So after maybe two weeks I started looking at new venues and found another great one.

    That would make me really nervous. It is so important to have responsive vendors, especially for the actual venue. I was between a few places but eventually went with one mostly because I could reach the coordinator any time and get a response usually within a few hours but never more than 24 hours.
    You might want to rethink your venue, I personally would hate the stress of not knowing what’s going on

    Give it a few more days. I’ve emailed our venue Wednesday and haven’t heard back but I know Thursdays are rehearsal days and Friday-Sundays are wedding days.

    My venue took a few days to respond when we contacted them on several different occasions.
