Booking a venue, help!

Help! My fiancé and I are looking to have our wedding in December 2023, but I'm about to go through surgery and possibly 8 weeks of recovery that would make it under a year to book a venue. Is it better to try to book the venue with 2 weeks to go before the surgery? Or wait to see if I can at least move around a little during recovery to go check out venues?! HELP

I personally would do it now before your surgery. Venues are likely pretty booked up for next year so the sooner the better.

December is not a popular month, you'd most likely be fine to wait until after your surgery! Before our wedding was postponed, we booked our venue for December 2021 in June 2021.

I agree! Covid postponements have pushed everything back and people are already booking into 2024. December is more popular than people think--Sept.-Dec. is the new wedding season.

I would start looking and try to book before surgery. While venues may not have many weddings booked for December, they likely have holiday parties.

Not necessarily true. We had a hard time finding a venue with our day open for this December - because I chose the most popular holiday party day of the year. December has a lot of other events, even if its not super wedding heavy.
I would at least start the process now. It took me a solid month to find the place that we ended up with. You should be able to go visit a few before surgery, and then if nothing else you can contact a bunch and discuss over email. You can always have your fiancé FaceTime you as he walks through a venue if there's one that you really want to see but you can't during recovery.
Weddings are a big boom right now. I would suggest starting the process now.
