Booking a venue before it is finished.

Jaci, on March 2, 2019 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
A couple places that we hav gone to look at this far are still in the works of being finished, what they have done and the plans they had sound really nice, just kind of hard to visualize with our it being there. My question is would you book a venue based on it being half done? Have you ever done it? Was it what you pictured and more? Thanks in advance!

I would be leery on booking a venue that wasnt finished. So many things can happen during construction/remodeling that will delay it for weeks, months, sometimes years. Even just seeing my brother get an inground pool was crazy, the process kept getting delayed due to weather and what normally would take a few weeks, took almost 3 months and they barely got any bnb use out of it last year.

I would just be careful and make sure your contracts states specifically what would happen if they dont finish in time. Will they refund you your money? Will they keep it and let you have first pick of dates once its finished?

We did. Booked a vineyard that wasn’t complete and still isn’t. However our wedding is the end of a September and they already have May bookings and have had their grand opening. Not worried about it.

No, I would not unless they gave a significant discount.

Hi I/we viewed thevpkans for this GORGEOUS Reception hall in Fort Lauderdale- Crystal Ballroom on the beach, however thd grand opening was suppose to have been in January. It is now March and no grand opening. We want to see begore we give our deposit. what if the vision tgey stated is NOT reality. And he wouldnt put on the quote if we didntvlike we would get our depisit back. Source other venues for a backul thst you would love the same or EVEN more.

It’s a huge gamble. It’s very easy for construction timelines to be delayed and what they’re proposing to you could turn out differently once they’re 100% finished.

I’d be so nervous to do this. But friends of mine did and it worked out great. They got a huge discount and the space was beautiful. I would just make sure there’s a time cushion, so if construction is delayed you should still be ok. Don’t cut it too close.

I booked my venue while in the middle of major construction was being done. We were able to look at the blue prints as well as pictures they had with what will be the final project. We could tell just by looking at thum that the venue was going to be absolutely gorgeous, we also really liked the idea of being one of the first couples to get married there. Construction will be done in the beginning of May and our wedding is June 8th. Because they have been under construction for so long they havent been able to book many events there which gave us the amazing opportunity to strike up a deal with them where we received a significant price decrease for booking a date this summer. I say its worth the gamble.

Nope wouldnt book it unless they were giving a large discount. I'd be skeptical on booking without seeing the finished project

We actually did book our ceremony site while it was still under construction! it wasn't too far off from being finished so we had a pretty good idea of the end result. But we liked the price and what they had built so far so we did it! it's finished now and its amazing!

We booked our venue before there was even cement on the ground. They offered a $2000 discount and i absolutely LOVED the designs! We booked 14 months in advance (January 2018), they started construction the following month, and the venue was scheduled to be completed in October 2018 (which it was). I think if you love the design you should go for it, but I do have to say if there wouldn't have been a significant time frame between the completion date and my wedding, I would've been much more hesitant. I would say if your wedding is to be more than 3 months from the completion date, it being finished isn't much of a concern.

EDIT: I wanted to add - I am more in love with the venue now than the designs I saw, so I do not regret my decision at all. I'm so glad I booked and got the discount and I love the venue.
