Blue Flowers???

Nekia, on June 11, 2012 at 12:51 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

My wedding is scheduled for October 6th of this year and I'm in desperate need of finding beautiful blue flowers, but have yet to find them! Are there any recommendations of blue flowers (without a hint of purple in them) in the color horizon, cobalt or royal blue?

You can get real ones, and the florist can paint them.

Sometimes if you get some of these real flowers ahead of time and let them sit in water that's been dyed with blue food coloring the flowers will absorb the blue food coloring and actually absorb it and change to a deeper blue. Like a white carnation will actually change blue. This isn't guaranteed, but it does help sometimes.

I'm using the flowers in my avatar. My colors are navy blue (marine blue in db world) white, and black.

Delphinium and Hydrangea ... there aren't a ton of choices as we are also doing blue. I decided to stick with creams and whites and will pull color in using other ways (such as blue on my bouquet around stems or inserted into it).

Our wedding colors are cobalt blue and silver and we have blue orchids and blue hydrangeas. Will also have white lillies and roses with blue and silver ribbon on bouquets.

Hydrangea, you can also get blue roses and any flower that is white can be fed food colouring to make blue

Thanks ladies!! I ran across this bouquet earlier today and fell in loveeee. Hopefully I can duplicate it without it costing $400.00 (as pictured)

Wow, that bouquet is gorgeous! If you're willing to arrange it yourself (or know someone who can), I'd check with your local florists and see if they will order the flowers for you. This was a major money saver for us and was cheaper than all the online bulk flowers sites too!

The only ones I can think of are hydrangeas or dyed flowers.

We are using orchids but they are dyed and have some purple in them. Here is a picture of mine.

The other photo is the hydrangeas with white stephanotis

OMG! These are beautiful bouquets! When we were considering a winter wedding we were going to do navy and silver. The challenge of finding navy flowers prompted us to abandon that! But you all have great ideas! Sorry I have nothing to add to your quest for flowers but it looks like you have some good suggestions.

I'm using Delphiniums as my main source of blue (love Hydrangeas but can't afford them). We're doing a seasonal wildflower bouquet with a single sunflower for my father, Delphiniums for the blue, and a lot of natural greens and cream colors. This was the photo I brought to the florist. I found another using delphiniums in a much more sophisticated style if that fits your wedding more.

Have you looked at wholesale shops? Sometimes you can get hydrangeas super inexpensive!

If you want silk or real-touch the bouquet you love can certainly be made for less than $400.

It's hard to find true blue flowers. My color is horizon blue and my florist showed me all the blue flowers that will be available. I don't remember any of them being close to my horizon color. Purplish flowers are considered blue. Idk why!

Blue flowers are hard to find. Many blue ones are silk bouquets. In these times, you can get good silk wedding bouquets that look and feel like real ones - and you can also keep them for as long as you want!
