Bilingual Wedding Idea

Courtney, on November 3, 2019 at 12:35 PM Posted in Planning 2 5
Anybody have any suggestions/ideas for a bilingual wedding? (ex: DJ, ceremony and reception ideas to incorporate both spanish and English ) My fiancé is from the Dominican Republic so I’m trying to brainstorm some ideas since some of his relatives don’t speak English.

We’re trying to do the same since I might have some family there that doesn’t speak much English. You could have some invitations in Spanish for his family, and have all the announcements in English and Spanish. You could also see if there are any traditions his family has for ceremonies (for example, we’re doing the lasso) that you could
    incorporate.

Awesome thanks! Yeah we were planning on doing like a mother son dance as well and having them dance bachata. I love the idea of the invitations.

Depending on the type of invitations you choose you could print on both sides. Same design. One side in English and one in Spanish. Signs at the ceremony & reception could be in both languages. Hire a bilingual DJ and have him/her make announcements in both languages. Just some ideas.

My husband is from Venezuela so we did a few things to incorporate his culture into our wedding! We sent out separate invitations in Spanish. We also included an appetizer that is typical of where he is from. Our first dance song was "Stand by Me" by Prince Royce because it includes both English and Spanish. My favorite part - we took dance lessons to learn how to dance bachata! Click here to see our first dance! Happy planning!
