Elizabeth, on November 19, 2017 at 4:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello all! Curious what bible verses you all we be using in your Christian ceremony? We are going to pick one out. Everyone we know however used Corinthians 13:4-8. Which we love, but want to find something more unique that our pastor can do a sermon from.

Did you ask your pastor? It he/she is going to be writing an actual sermon, they might have some ideas.

I like Ruth; 'where you go, I will follow; your people will be my people".

There is also Song of Songs...very romantic.

Ephesians 5:22-33 for our New Testament reading, and we're torn about the Old Testament. Either a selection from Proverbs 31 or the wedding prayer from Tobit.

Song of Solomon 6:3 King James Version

Shortly put, the verse goes: I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine. (This refers to a life-long commitment, longevity and fruitfulness in life). I am sure your Pastor can paraphrase into something romantic for your ceremony.

1Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? whither is thy beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with thee.

2My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

3I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.

4Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners. 5Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me: thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead.

6Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them.

@future - might be Genesis 2:18-24? That's what we're using as our first reading

The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him." So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all the wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: "This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called 'woman,' for out of 'her man' this one has been taken." That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.

Our pastor gave us a book of readings to pick from to build our ceremony. Maybe ask yours if he has the same?
