Bi Coastal Celebration - HELP!

Nieves, on December 29, 2015 at 1:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My fiance and I are originally from the east coast and have recently relocated to (and fell in love with) LA. We have picked our venue - in LA, so we know only a few of our loved ones will be able to attend. In an effort to allow as much celebration as possible, we're planning a trip back to the East Coast, where we'll rent a house and have a celebration one weekend later this year. How do I let guests know (via invitation or otherwise) that we'll be having a celebration and that we understand if they cannot make the trip, but would rather attend the celebration in NJ? Such a sticky situation and I'm not sure how to word this. Help! Smiley smile

Why don't you just tell them?- how many people are we talking about?

Your wedding website would be useful for that. Set up two different events and post the information there. Then people can choose which location works best for them and their schedule. Then you could just direct people to the website with the invitations. Just a thought.

I would send the invitation for the LA wedding, but include on your website that you understand that not everyone can travel and will be having a celebration in NJ later that year. I'd also let as many of the NJ guests as possible know beforehand via word-of-mouth!

These are great ideas! We're in the same predicament. I like the idea of putting the info for the second celebration on the website. We haven't finalized a date for that one so we might just say...TBD.
