Best wedding food/drink you've had a guest?

Jana, on July 13, 2020 at 11:43 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 17
Be it cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, beverages, what was your favorite at other weddings you have attended? Are you including the same at your own reception?

There was this specific dessert I had years ago at this one wedding I can’t even remember whose wedding it was aha but it was so good that I found it in places later on and ate it aha. Or id crave it sometimes. It was like a taro pudding.
I didn’t have it at my wedding cause it was definitely a premium item.

I actually don’t feel like I’ve ever been to a wedding where anything food or bev related amazed me. That sucks now that I think about it lol. But I guess that’s why me and my FH are adding some fun with our food by having a Mac and cheese bar as a late night sack.

Out of the many weddings I've attended only 2 stand out as far as food: 1) the amazing crab cake appetizers at a wedding in Annapolis, MD 2) the fun/delicious mashed potato bar at a wedding in CA.

Can I say the rosemary potatoes at my own wedding?

'Cuz those were *fabulous*. DH and I had them at the tasting, and we just looked at each other and said, "yes, that's on the menu."

One of my favorites was fried ravioli so included it at our wedding. In fact, our venue made it specially for us because it isn't on their menu. It turned out really good so I was glad I decided to have them at our wedding.

I can't say that I remember the food and drink from many weddings. I've been to some weddings with very expensive food, and I swear the best food I ever had at a wedding was pulled pork from a pig on a spit at a backyard wedding. One wedding I went to had a gelato cart for dessert, which was fun. I've much prefered champagne over sparkling wine for the toast. Food and drink that is easy to access, comes out on time, and doesn't run out if my favorite kind at weddings.

My MOH had booze milk shakes as a late night snack which was awesome. One of my other bridesmaid for her rehearsal dinner had an 11 course traditional Chinese meal (her husband is from China), it was amazing. One of my friends had gouda mac and cheese which was to die for.

Some of the cool things we are doing at ours include: mini-cheesecakes and a brownie bar for dessert. We have an Elvis empanada as one of the app which is stuffed with bananas and peanut butter with bacon jam, another one is fried cheese curds on a stick with an amazing dipping sauce. We are having Borsin Cheese mashed potatoes as the side.

I can’t honestly say that any specific food I have had at a wedding has been in any way memorable. But, that has actually inspired me with my wedding – we are having a destination wedding in New Orleans, so we have decided to have a chef create a unique authentic New Orleans meal for our guests- so hopefully it will be delicious and memorable! The best thing I have experienced in terms of wedding dinners have been plated meals, rather than buffet. I have always found this to be so much more enjoyable as a guest, so that was one of my non-negotiables for our reception. I think looking back at previous weddings and what you liked and didn’t like as a guest is really great inspiration when it comes to planning your own!

My sister and BIL did a taco bar at their wedding and it was fantastic! All the guest loved it because they did chicken and pork as the taco meats which made it feel a little fancier than ground beef

At my future sister in laws wedding they had the best chicken! It was super juicy and tender chicken breast cooked in a white wine creamy sauce.

One of my brothers did seafood paella, brought out as soon as it was done and served out of the hot pan by the chef.
They had a very small wedding, it wouldn't be practical for us.

I went to a wedding a few years ago at the Anthony Wayne House, it was buffet style and they had a few main options, one was "barbecue in a jar". There were mason jars with corn bread in them, and then guests can choose to add in coleslaw, baked beans, pulled pork, chicken, etc. It was SO good, and the presentation was beautiful! The caterer was Jeffrey Miller Catering, based in PA. They made everything hand made, and cook everything on site. Now years later, I am getting married at that same venue and having that option as one of our appetizer stations!

My brother’s cocktail hour was amazing! They had incredible appetizers and a great sushi bar. I probably talked about the food for days. lol I was such a happy guest! The cocktail hour food was better than the dinner food.
My sister had a fantastic wedding cake. I was sad that I only had one slice.

We aren’t doing any of that. We’ll have appetizers, of course, but no sushi. We aren’t doing a wedding cake, either. We’re opting for a dessert bar instead.

Not at a wedding but a milestone anniversary party. A local Hawaiian restaurant catered and the food was delicious! Fried rice, mac salad, teriyaki chicken, coconut shrimp, etc

We are doing a 5 course wine dinner (plated of course). Our guests have responded extremely well to the idea!
