Best wedding attended?

Michelle, on July 12, 2021 at 6:16 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

Of the weddings you have attended, what made the best ones stand out from the rest? Was it something during the ceremony, the reception vibe, something unique that was done, an unusual menu?

It was the food. I still remember the surf and turf that they served with the most incredible paper wrapped fish. I also remember the worst wedding food, and while the reception was fun, the food stands out.

Usually a cool venue and amazing food! My favorite weddings have been fewer than 50 guests, no dancing but so fun and personal.

Worst weddings: bad food (potluck/homemade) or terrible climate conditions (a hot summer wedding).

I've enjoyed basically all the weddings I've been at (bar one, really), and it's always because of either the ceremony or the food or both.

Since we have to rule out our own...

It's probably the one with the skit for the ceremony. It was hilarious, very them, and also deeply touching. We actually saw the wife the other day (we're all still friends, but she's also a trained stylist, so she cuts our hair), and we reminisced! Also, when the groom's jaw drops open, he starts to cry, covers the bottom half of his face, and then nearly falls to the floor out of sheer emotion when the bride starts to come down the aisle?

Yeah, you get all "are there onions in here?" yourself. And you remember that.

Organising my wedding, I was asking myself what I really remember and appreciate about other weddings - just to be focused on things that my guests would remember after mine...

Most touching wedding I went to : a church ceremony of a very religious couple of friends. It was the first time in my life I cried in public. No artificials, no videos, a brother making photos, all their friends around... It was just amazing.

For me it was the DJ and party part of the wedding. It’s never as much fun for me when the music is my preference.

The best wedding I've ever been to was actually a surprise wedding. The couple had been together for years and were planning a wedding the following year but some elderly relatives asked them to do a ceremony on their farm so that they could attend cause there were in bad health. Well the couple ended up having issues with their venue and decided to just make their "fake" ceremony their real one. They had a sign that said "welcome to our elopement" and she's an interior decorator so everything was perfect. It was probably the happiest I've ever seen a couple and I think that's what made it so memorable. I lived out of state but just happened to be visiting that weekend and was invited and I felt so lucky

The best weddings I've been to always involve lots of people letting loose on the dancefloor. The ones where you can just tell everyone is enjoying themselves and having a great time.
