Best Way To Collect Guest Photos From Reception?

Courtney, on October 28, 2020 at 9:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

We do not have twitter, instagram, etc. We have no hashtag. I am assuming facebook is the easiest way to set something up for guests to upload pictures so those that can't come can see. How is this best done? A facebook page, group, or event? I am unsure if I set it up as an event if people are going to think it is another way of me asking if they are coming, which it isn't, but then does anyone who wants to see pictures have to say they are going or will they be able to see everything simply by me inviting them?

Clearly, I'm not a social media expert ... :/

There are a few different apps! Here is a list of other options/apps (ignore the ones with hashtags, since you said you won't have one): https://www.buzzfeed.com/nicolenguyen/how-to-collect-your-guests-wedding-photos

You could also setup a Facebook group, and have the group name/info listed at the entrance to your ceremony, so that the guests see it right when they arrive at your wedding. They can search for it and add themselves to the group once they see the name of it at your ceremony.

I just emailed everyone photobooth and entrance photos I had of them and asked them to email me or send me photos they had. I also had a website that allowed guests to go back in and upload their own photos in a gallery after

Can’t you just say “please post on facebook and tag us in the pictures? Or creat album labled “x and x wedding and our date?” And tag us in album?

I was at a wedding where they asked people to download the Guest app, & it worked quite well! They had info on their website about it & sent an email request out in advance as well. It’s free, & I think it’s saved for a year. I’m planning on using it but also will tell people they’re free to send me files directly. However, all that is more so you can have the photos.

If you don’t care about having the actual files or care more about non-attendees seeing, then creating a shared album on Facebook would work well—I just wouldn’t save any files from there.
I have a coworker who hosts her travel photos on Shutterfly & then emails the link to whoever wants to see. I think they’re called “share sites.”

We used an app— Veri, which I believe is now The Guest. We were very happy with it, and lots of people used it. The pictures were easy to save and it didn’t limit the quality which was nice.
Another option is something like Google Photos— my girls made a shared album for my Bach and shower and everyone posted their own pics to it, which was lots of fun, and I was able to invite others to see them/comment on them. Much preferred that over Facebook as it gave me control over viewers!
