Best type of venue for a social anxious introvert

Kristen, on January 7, 2020 at 8:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So my FH has social anxiety hates all eyes on him which is why we are not having a full wedding ceremony with guests. I am about frustration cry and I have a wedding trying to find affordable venues that are private. I have always wanted to get married outdoors. Most places I want are super expensive and hotels won't really accommodate us because why allow a short elopement ceremony when they can make more money with a full wedding. I get that. I am in Florida so I could do a beach or park but even if we rent a space we cannot kick all the people out so I know I would watch a couple getting married and he hates any eyes on him. I thought of renting a house but not interested in getting married in someone's backyard unless facing the ocean and usually those house are super expensive. I am mostly venting as I want to compromise with him to not make him anxious but I am slowly starting to feel like my dream for how my ceremony would be is disappearing and I am about to just give in and do a courthouse which I know I would regret and resent. Does anyone have any ideas for venues for social introverts?

Have you looked into any venues that specialize in elopements or small weddings? Hope you all find something that's a good compromise and fit!

What about a nature preserve or something near the beach? Or maybe you guys can compromise and do a green house or a conservatory? So outdoors but still private:

I highly recommend checking out bed and breakfast places. They may not be super famous because they’re small and usually don’t spend money on advertising for the wedding services, but in my experience most B&B places would rent the venue for weddings and take care of catering as well. Since they are smaller, they prefer small weddings as well. Hope that helps!

I wanted Vizcaya but it's in Miami for hours away. I will look into those. I love gardens.

Yeah I was considering that last night. I would be happy with a very nice patio to do it with greenery if lucky.

Good luck! I understand how important the venue is in wedding planning. I went with an outdoor option too because I love the natural light and when I’m in an enclosed space I feel a bit trapped lol

LOL I agree plus I have always wanted to get married outdoors. I have found many places I love and we agreed on a $500 budget for a venue (not unfair for something that will be done in a half hour) but either they are too expensive or some would rather not miss the chance on booking a larger wedding and making money which I get. I have considered doing something in the morning but I want pictures at sunset transitioning into the night. I may have to change my time but I want to stick with the evening.
