Best POTATO option?!

BunBuns, on March 12, 2013 at 9:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

Hmm what do you think is best for a potato wedding side?! I love when WW helps me pick out my menu Smiley smile

1- mashed (with gravy side)

2- roasted with spices (red roasted?)

3- Au gratin (with cheese!)

Roasted! It's the hardest to get wrong, in my opinion.

Depends on how it's being served; I love mashed, but roasted red have the most margin for error.

I love Au gratin but I agree with the other ladies in the roasted red for a wedding =)

It will be served as a buffet style lunch. I like all potatoes so this is tricky!!!

Ooooh if you are doing a buffet than do a mashed potato bar! Have a variety of toppings like gravy, cheese, bacon, etc! This is what we did for one of our sides at our wedding and it was a HUGE hit.

Red roasted. mashed gets icky if it sits too long and not everyone likes or can eat cheese. if you want cheese, do a lasagne or ziti

Mashed are usually too heavy for lunch. Au gratin can dry out on a buffet, and the edges can get hard (or they can be overcooked and mushy). Go for the roasted reds!

I have had roasted at a wedding before...they were not cooked long enough and were rock hard. But it all depends on your caterer.

I personally think mashed or red roasted because au gratin may be less appealing for some guests...

I vote roasted. Mashed potatoes are too heavy and thick, and not everyone likes or can have cheese.

Au gratin, especially for a lunch-style wedding. It seems very lunch-y to me.

We eat red roasted potatoes a few times a week, because that's the only way FH likes them, so I'm sick of them.

Red roasted are my preference! I love mashed too, but most of the time they have milk/cream in them if I'm not cooking them myself.

I love all three...but to weigh all the pro's and con's of each....go with red roasted.

I work in a restaurant that serves different potato options...and red roasted is by far the most popular

Roasted red potatoes for sure! They're more "fancy" than mashed potatoes and have more flavor!
