FH just told me that his best man his informed him he 'invited some people' including at least 2 people for sure who are not on the wedding guest list [both of which I heavily dislike and FH barely knows/doesn't care about...] and I'm at a complete loss as to how to handle this. BM did NOT ask for the wedding guest list prior to planning this party. At first, he let his WIFE plan the whole thing and they were going to just have a night at BM's house with his wife making them dinner. Then he changed the plan to go to Dave and Busters instead, which FH really liked the idea of. But now BM has told FH that he 'invited some people' and didn't even TELL FH who all he invited - just "Rob and Mike and Stuff".

I know we're supposed to stay out of planning the parties but he is inviting people FH isn't close with/has never met/aren't invited to our wedding. Do we say something? FH of course had no clue this was not acceptable etiquette wise. He wants me to talk to BM but I dunno... Advice??

My deepest condolences on the loss of his brother...your FBIL. That's horrible.

Honestly, it sounds like you've been on weddingwire too much to me. Most men couldn't give a crap if they're invited to a bachelor party but not the wedding. Most men know nothing of wedding etiquette and couldn't care less about it. It sounds like by telling him, you caused this stress. It's probably easiest for you to backtrack and say "oh sorry, that's a rule for the bridal shower since people bring gifts, not the bachelor party where people don't." Another totally legit option would be to cancel the hwole thing. It's a week after his brother's funeral! They should probably reschedule. That's really soon to try to have a good time. I think "Hey I know he won't say it, but he's really struggling with his brother's death and I don't think he'll be able to enjoy the BP if you don't postpone" would go over a lot better than "Hey those guys can't go to the party you're planning and I have nothing to do with."
