Best Friend/Sister Dance at wedding

Kristin, on June 18, 2016 at 1:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Hi guys, I seem to have a dilema. I do not have a father for a father daughter dance, and am not close with my mother or any other male to take the place of. I am super close to my best friend, shes practically my sister and i was wondering your thoughts on a best friend/sister dance instead of a father daughter dance.

Thanks!

I say go for it! It is your wedding and in the end it will reflect more on what you want it to be rather than just being something you HAVE to do. We had a bride and father of the bride sing a long instead of a dance since my father doesn't really dance. Everyone loved it and said it was very me.

Yes do it. I do not have parents...and that question swells in my head. I will choose my sister, she is the one person who is there for me and has loved me through ups and downs...the dance symbolizes trusting to let you go and sharing you with someone else..a passing a torch...love is love no one directs that.

I mean if you want to, sure. Personally in that case I would just skip it altogether as I would find slow dancing / spotlight dancing with a female friend a little odd feeling but if someone else did it I wouldn't judge it at all.

It just depends on what you want i ssay go for it my dad passed away 3 months ago so i can relate im dancing with his brother and im gonna have a friend sing a song that my dad had wrote for me and have a video with pics of me and my dad playing and then im also doing a mother daughter dance im not very close with my dads brother but i felt my dad had to be represented in some way so therefore im including him and having the song and video played as we dance as sort of a tribute and im very close with my mom so shes walking me down the aisle and were doing a dance so it really just depends on what you want and who your close to its your day so it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks its your day and your fiances day you do you
