Best friend wont attend wedding... :(

Arizona Bride, on October 11, 2011 at 7:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

My husband's best friend wont be in the wedding. Nor will he be attending the wedding. Husband asked him to be in it, and he declined. Now he says he wont be going. ALL BECAUSE HE DOESNT FEEL LIKE IT!! Wow... Smiley sad

He is a close friend to both of us also.

Wow. Doesn't sound like much of a best friend if he's declining to come for no particular reason - sorry to hear that.

Seriously? "he doesn't feel like it"? How good of a friend is he really?

Any reason why this guy is declining? Seems really weird since this friend has oh, I don't know, over a year to clear his schedule?

I'd say don't worry about him. If he doesn't feel like taking the effort to show up and support you both on your wedding day, then he isn't much of a friend.

Sounds as if there is something else going on that you might not know about. Money? Health? Jealousy? It could be anything (!) but if he is a good friend then I would guess there is something he is keeping to himself that is making him behave this way. Don't toss the friendship yet. Can your FH talk to him?

Certainly does not sound like a best friend, your FH needs to have a man to man conversation with this so called best firend and get to the real truth to the reason he's declining.....that has to be more to the story...Best friends stand by your side not against it.....

I agree. What kind of friend doesn't "feel like" being there for their best friend? I don't think he sounds like a friend at all. He sounds like an acquaintance.

I can see if he will talk to him. I hope he goes. His presence would be really great to have there...

Thats the reason i got when my bridesmaid decided not to show at my shower...without so much as a text. after a long series of let downs, shes no longer a bridesmaid. I say that because people show their true colors during wedding times

Wow, how strange, I'm sure there is something hindering him from participating. Maybe he feels like he is losing his bf (your fh) and the relation with both of you? But try to look past it and focus on you and your hubby2b Smiley smile If you are really close to him, I would try to figure out why, but that's just what I would do, I want to know the "root" of the problem. As for my fh he would say, "oh well" lol

Really? He is a close friend? He's obviously not very god at being a friend. As much as it sucks, planning a wedding shows you who your true friends are. It's a hard lesson to learn, and unfortunately, you're not the first bride to learn it...

Personally, sounds like he may have an issue that goes beyond this. Like Sharron said, it could be anything... don't dismiss him as a friend yet.

That is horrible! My best friend cut up on me as well...but oh well. You can't allow that to stop you. Be encouraged. Smiley smile
