Best bridesmaids gift you still use or love

Amanda , on March 4, 2018 at 6:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16
My two little sisters(25 & 22) and best friend(31) are going to be my bridesmaids. My budget is $80-$100 for each. I am wanting to do the robe and Jammie set, with a makeup or tote bag and scarf/blanket so if it’s a chilly October day they can use it to cover up between photos. However I’m wondering what was the best gift you have received as a bridesmaid that you still use or loved?

I have been in 13 weddings and I don't think i have anything aside from shoes from one and a necklace from another. If you are going to spend that much, I would buy one nice big thing. Like maybe a personalized picture frame for them or jewelry or a nice personalized tote they can use again and again. I would avoid stuff with bridesmaid written on it so they can wear it/use it for a long time.

Do you use the robe often? Is it monogrammed with name or initials? What kind of jewelry? Do you wear it everyday or on special occasion? I have not been a bridesmaids but when I was attending a wedding the bride wanted to include me in the gift also I was very honored. It was a pair of snowflake earrings. They are rather large for my small ears so I don’t wear them but the one time for her wedding.

I would say the robe and scarf wouldn't count as gifts since they are more items specifically for the wedding. I am giving my girls flannels to wear the morning of and a shawl to wear for when it is cold outside, but they are not a part of their gifts. They are simply just something I want included in wedding pics.

I am getting my girls stemless wine glasses with their names on it, since they all are huge wine lovers. I am considering getting them the tie the knot bracelet from Kate Spade. It is a cute bracelet they can wear again, yet a reminder that it was part of "helping me tie the knot." I have seen some cute make up bags and personalized totes on Etsy that I have considered as well since everyone always loves those.

I was given a bracelet from one wedding. it came in a personalized silver jewelry box with my name engraved on it. I still wear it from time to time. In another wedding I was given a necklace and hair accessory for the day of the wedding and a small Thomas Kincaid painting. It wasn't really my thing, but she put some thought into it and I thought that was sweet. I hung it my first apartment for years. I think anything that says bridesmaid or MOH on it is likely to get thrown away or go unused after the wedding so you may want to avoid that. I am planning on buying totes with their initials, and filling them with gifts tailored to their likes/hobbies. My BM is obsessed with Ulta Beauty so I will likely give her a gift card there along with some other small items that have nothing to do with the wedding, and my MOH is into photography so I may get her a gift card to Hunts or Best Buy (she is saving for a new lens) and fill it with other small items. We are getting married in Salem, MA and there is a lot to do, so I may toss in some tickets to a show or gift card to a nearby restaurant.

I was planning on putting my nicknames I have been calling them for years just on the robes sweet pea, pumpkin, Babe or little sis, baby sis, best friend, I don’t want to do anything with glass because my sisters are traveling and would hate for it to get broken. I have gotten them jewelry in the past but it’s always been something we get while we are spending time together. They are picky about jewelry as am I.

My everyday makeup bag is a gift from a wedding 3 years ago! And I sometimes use a wrap I was given as a scarf.

I’ve never reworn any of the jewelry I got, though. None of them are things I would’ve gotten myself, but I still appreciated the gesture.

They live in Alaska so I know the scarfs would definitely get used a lot. It wasn’t on my gift list till I saw something like that on Etsy and know sometimes it does get cold in Missouri towards the end of October. I like the flannel idea but would hate to get the Wrong size as both my sisters are rather busty and button up shirts can be difficult.

The only thing I used till the very end was a bottle of perfume.. But bride knew the kind I liked. For my girls I decided to go with candles for the scent part since I don't know what perfume they use.

I received a Vera Bradley tote as a BM gift once and loved it. I use it all the time and get compliments on it often. I bought “Get Carried Away” totes and matching wallets for my girls, in different patterns. They all seemed to love them! FH bought them necklaces for the wedding day which, although a prop, I thought was really sweet.

That’s was very thoughtful of him to add something for your girls! I have never heard of a groom being included in the bridesmaids gift giving. Is this something new?

I don’t think it’s a new thing, he just did it! His sister and a close mutual friend were BMs, and he’s very close to my little sisters, who were also BMs. I think it started from there: he wanted to do something nice for them.

I hope you do! I loved it because it was as fun as it was practical. My bff and MOH visited in December and said it was the biggest carry on she could get away with on a plane (she travels a lot for work) and she loved it! My SIL has three kids and likes it for toting their stuff around. One of my sisters is so busy she basically lives out of her truck and she keeps her essentials in her bag.

A nice tote bag seems most useful to me.
