Benefits to having hair up vs down

LC, on April 13, 2016 at 3:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 51

I originally wanted my hair up, but now I am wondering if it would look better down. Thoughts and opinions! Thanks!

How do you wear your hair on a daily basis? I wear mine up every single day so I wanted down or at least half up/half down to look different. Plus I had super long hair and wanted long curls.

It's all a matter of preference, really.

I chose up because I didn't want my hair in my face all day and my hair can't do anything down. It's pretty fine and if I just did some pretty curls, I'd have weird wavy-like hair within an hour, no matter how much product used.

Up, cooler looks classy, doesn't catch on jewelry/dress. Doesn't cover dress, doesn't get in food.

Down: doesn't necessarily take as long, won't "fall down", can show off how long your hair is. You can have back acne and nobody would see it?

I wanted down, I've been growing my hair out for years, but doing it up for the reasons I mentioned.

Up: Doesn't get in your eyes/face, doesn't get frizzy if the air is humid (and you have that hair type), looks more elegant, looks more formal, can highlight your head/face shape, takes more skill to do properly, is usually more expensive to have done professionally, can show off your shoulders and/or dress more.

My decision to go up was based on the ease of not having my hair in my way and also because I wanted to show off the back of my dress, have it be special for my special day, and I think it just is a more flattering look for my face/head shape.

I normally wear my hair up when I have something intense to do: interviews, important meetings, exercise. I have it out of my way so I can concentrate on the task at hand.

I did both lol. Half up/half down. I usually wear it that way and I wanted a style I was comfortable with. Cons was that it was hotter than expected so I wanted to put my hair up! Lol

I'm wearing mine down - or half up/half down. I have long, thick hair and it holds curl really well. . Any time I've worn it up for something formal, I've gotten a headache because of all the pins and because it's heavy. Plus, FH loves my hair down.

My hair is so fine it won't hold a blow-out for more than an hour, so I'll be wearing it up. If you have gorgeous flowing Kate Middleton hair, then down for sure.

I think it depends on what you dress looks like, if you are wearing a veil/what kind of veil, and more than anything else just what you feel most comfortable with. I always feel my best, prettiest, and most comfortable with my hair up so that's what I did. My mom really pushed for down because that's what she likes but there was so way I was budging on that one. I love a loose, simple updo.

What time of year is your wedding? Mine is in the Summer and my stylist recommended up for all of us because of the humidity being so ruthless on down-do's.

I hate my hair up. Did it once up for prom and it was a nightmare. Therefore it will be down and it's not to hide back acne!

@Ceci it was just a joke, lighten up. Did you not read the part where I said I wanted mine down at first? Holy crap... LoL

There are probably about 5 people in my life who have ever seen me with my hair up. I don't want to look like a totally different person so I'm wearing it down or mostly down. I keep seeing all these awesome up-dos on pinterest but I can't do it.

I am doing my hair half up because I do not like how I photograph with my hair completely pulled back. Just a preference. Smiley smile

My FHs aunt said you should always do up because when you take into account everyone you hug and dancing, your hair will fall flat quickly

Do whatever suits your face better.

It so depends on you and the dress! I usually wear mine down or up in a ponytail so I wanted a nice updo for mine. Can we see the dress? A pic of what your hair normally looks like?

As everyone said, it depends on your dress! If you have an awesome back, I would want to show it off. I am deciding to wear my half up because I have super thick hair which gives me a headache when it is in any kind of updo. The only downside that may have me reconsidering is the fact that my hair cannot hold a curl.
