Benefits of a Corset/Lace Up Dress...

Mrs.B-Baby!!, on May 7, 2011 at 12:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Are they easier to "squeeze" into vs. zippered back dresses. The back of my dress is zippered and I love it, but just thinking how would it be to change it? I have always been curious about this. Also what kinds of prices would one expect to pay to make those type of alterations?

I'm not exactly sure how much I paid for my dress to have a corset back. I got a floor model dress and it was a smidge too small so we changed the back. It still had a zipper but it was also a lace up back. I think for all of the alterations she did she charged me $80. But it also depends on where you live.

Ok, thanks. so you used both the zipper and the lace? Or just the lace up?

I have a corset back dress, and let me tell you Shauna - it will suck everything IN. It gave me a figure I didn't know I had, and I lovvvvvvvvve it. FH's jaw is gonna drop when he sees it! LOL

I was told at David's Bridal (I didn't buy my dress here though) that they can convert a zipper to a corset for $200. You might be able to find it cheaper though.

What does your dress look like? Can you post a pic? Smiley smile

I have a corset, a zipper, and buttons. The corset is in the inside, then the zipper, and the 50 buttons. FH is going to have a toughtime on the wedding night. LOL

I will have a corset dress with a zipper back as well. I love lace backs also. I wish my dress had a lace back b/c to me they are more elegant but I'm not gonna pay extra to have it altered that way. Plus my dress is already beautiful without it and it will blow my FH away like it did me.

I bought a zipper/button back dress but I love the way the corset dresses fit perfectly to your body. Being a darn near dead on hourglass shape, they would have really fit much more easily, now I'm going to have to have a lot more alterations to get that same look.

@Sha Terra, right, it depends on pricing too! Because I got my dress for a great price and it helped me stay within my budget. So adding additional costs may not be an option especially if it's $100+ dollars!

I have a corset back and I agree it sucks everything in. I hate my stomach and sides and with my dress it gives me the figure I want.

I wish my dress was a great price lol. I dont have expensive taste but one of the Oleg Cassini dresses at David's Bridal was the only one that blew me away. I mean I liked a few but it was the only one that made me go THIS IS THE ONE! Its still on sale and within my budget but not much lol. I wasnt tryna spend more than $1000 on a dress and its $950. Smh but it'll be well worth every penny for my big day! So I cant afford any extra alterations Smiley sad
