Beer and wine vs full bar!

jaletia, on September 24, 2012 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 55

Okay I originally said no alcohol at ALL, but we decided our guests will enjoy the drinks. Now in it sure if I want a full at or just beer and wine. The reason I didn't want alcohol in the beginning was because I don't want certain family members to get out of hand. Fh says we shouldn't have to worry about grown adults getting drunk, which is very true. I love the idea of a signature drink and having only beer, wine, tea and various soft drink. Fh thins we should do the full bar. What do you ladies think, and what are your booze plans?

We are only having beer and wine (lemonade, pop, coffee, tea)

We did beer, wine and a sangria fountain. However this choice was made mainly due to the fact that we had an afternoon wedding. If we had an evening wedding, we probably would have gone full bar.

    Hahaha, Cassidy said pop.

We are doing a full bar, but that's us. There is nothing wrong with doing a beer, wine and signature drink.

We're doing full bar. Just as a thought - beer and wine can be cheaper if you select less expensive items, but it's not always cheaper because most mixed drinks come with a mixer (tonic, juice, etc.) so nice beer/wine could be more expensive then cheap full bar.

We are having a full bar, only because we are allowed to bring in our drinks which makes it a LOT cheaper.

Cassidy is totally correct when saying pop!!! Smiley smile Gosh I hate hearing Soda!!lol Smiley smile

We are trying to figure this out... Where I come from open bar is what is the norm. Never did I know of a difference such as cash bar or just beer and wine bar before I met FH.

I'm pushing for the open bar so we shall see. And you're right adults are adults they should be responsible!

We are having beer, wine and 2 signature drinks. Less money then a full bar but still a little something for those that don't drink wine or beer. I am mainly doing this because I don't drink beer and most wines give me a headache.

I think it depends on your venue and what they offer. We are doing full open bar for 3 hours because it comes as part of the wedding package.

Side question...is 3 hours of open bar enough? Or if we do open bar, are we supposed to offer it for the whole night? For all those doing open bar...are you doing it all night or only for a set time?

Haha ...around here its normal for a 4 hour bar, and the bar is shut down during dinner. So we have the cocktail hour, then down for dinner, then open for 3 hours during the reception

We are doing just beer and wine, mostly because it was included in our package and it's less expensive than adding the full bar..

We are doing beer, wine, soda and I believe there is a help yourself lemonade and water.

I went back and forth and came to the conclusion that beer and wine was best for my budget AND not wanting people to get shit faced. Even though they could on beer and wine but i'm hoping not : )

We're doing beer and wine only because of the price (an extra $10 pp for liquor). But there's a bar right outside of our room so those that need it, can pay for their own if necessary. If we have more budget flexibility closer to the date, we might change it though.

We are doing a full bar. My wedding guest list is only 60-75 people. Since we are able to bring our own alcohol, it worked out. Smiley smile

Nothing wrong with just doing beer and wine! As a guest, I would be perfectly happy with that Smiley smile
