Beer and wine only or!?

Savanah, on September 2, 2016 at 7:33 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 35

So I totally prefer having the mid level bar for our venue. It's not house vodkas ect just above that and not the elite package. Anyways my FH wants to do beer and wine only with 2 signature drinks.. Now we do have a big older crowd who are heavy beer drinkers.. But for myself I know I'm going to want mixed drinks... However if I chose drinks I like for the signature (one vodka, one rum) I'd be happy.. I guess I'm trying to weigh the difference. CLEARLY the higher package is best and can give anyone what they want but I'm wondering is it worth it?? I know my girls and I are huge wino's and a few mixed drinks. Outside of that I'm just not sure... He kinda makes a good point but it's easier just to please all lol. Attending my first beer and wine wedding with signature drinks. Actually two this month so I'll have a better idea but give me opinions on that!!(: thanks all!

It's up to you really. I am pretty sure the majority of my drinkers are wine drinkers anyways and some beer. Plus I want to save money so beer and wine only.

I think if you want to do beer + wine + signature drinks you will be safe and can save some money too. I don't think anyone will complain about that.

Doing beer, wine and a signature drink is gonna save you money and prevent more people from getting black out wasted. That's what I'm doing. I prefer mixed drinks too but wedding + open booze = drunkies everywhere.

Thanks!! Those are good points I didn't even think of!! Lol. One of my bridesmaids was kinda making me feel cheap about that. She just got married last year and they tip top of the line everything but they both had families helping out while we don't! So saving money is key but not without keeping my guests happy of course!

I think more options are better but the beer and wine w/ signature drinks will save you money. It's totally your choice just a matter of preference.

I'd read your guests. if you know most of them are going to drink beer and wine then do the beer and wine package with a couple of signature drinks would be more then fine.

I kind of wish we weren't going to have liquor but my venue doesn't have wine which is lame so I wanted something else besides beer for the non-beer drinkers. I think most of our guests either drink beer or no alcohol at all so hopefully the liquor cost won't be too much. It's a consumption bar.

Honestly either works. As long as you provide alcohol to your guests you are properly hosting them. If you want to save a little money and most of your guests are wine or beer drinkers, go with the signature drinks package. You can always upgrade closer to the wedding if you have the budget.

Yeah that's what I was torn between @loveyoumoore. I didn't wanna do house either, the package just above yet just below top shelf! Lol.

We are doing beer and wine (we are providing the wine bc their house wine is crap and my sister works for a wine shop and that will be her gift). Then we are having alcohol by consumption. I know that is usually a bad idea, but we have only 40 drinking age guests and they are predominantly beer and wine people.

Beer and wine are fine. Beer, wine and signature drinks are fine. Just remember that you will never, ever make everyone happy. Even if you had liquor, someone would want a type of liquor you don't have. If they don't like beer, if they don't like wine, if they don't like your signature drinks, they're too damn picky.

In my opinion personally; I think that if you can afford it, you should offer the mid level bar. It sounds like the mid level package is call liquor, which is good.

While beer and wine only is definitely ok, that doesn't leave a lot of options for everyone. I know for me, I can't drink beer because of grain, and if wine is my only option, I tend to drink too much of it too quick. I am a mixed drink drinker, and it takes me several vodka and club soda drinks before I'm really feeling buzzed, because I'm only drinking so much liquor at a time. I like the idea of adding a couple signature drinks to the beer and wine menu, too. If that saves you money, then definitely do that.

Do you have a lot of wine drinkers? Is there an option for booze and beer without wine? (That's what I was going to go with at our old venue because none of our guests drink wine)

We are going the beer and wine route. I have been to so many weddings where people are just crazy crazy drunk and I'm trying to prevent that a bit. Our venue has a top notch selection of wines and craft beers, so hopefully there will be something to please everyone. It should help save some money, so I would just make 2 killer signature cocktails!

I just emailed Kathy at my venue. I asked if I could do beer, wine, and then add captain, coconut rum, and vodka then add it pops and juices and see if she will allow that.. Or I could try to use those three and make an actual signature drink with them. I feel like that would help cover mixed drinkers.

Beer and wine is fine; if you can add a sig drink fine!

Who are all you people who have friends who get black out drunk at weddings? Maybe it's time to re-evaluate your friends......
