So I totally prefer having the mid level bar for our venue. It's not house vodkas ect just above that and not the elite package. Anyways my FH wants to do beer and wine only with 2 signature drinks.. Now we do have a big older crowd who are heavy beer drinkers.. But for myself I know I'm going to want mixed drinks... However if I chose drinks I like for the signature (one vodka, one rum) I'd be happy.. I guess I'm trying to weigh the difference. CLEARLY the higher package is best and can give anyone what they want but I'm wondering is it worth it?? I know my girls and I are huge wino's and a few mixed drinks. Outside of that I'm just not sure... He kinda makes a good point but it's easier just to please all lol. Attending my first beer and wine wedding with signature drinks. Actually two this month so I'll have a better idea but give me opinions on that!!(: thanks all!

Beer and wine with signature drinks is fine =) I actually have a "bride's bottle" at my venue. I am picky with my alcohol and only like one brand of wine so I'll have an open bar for guests but I don't have to upgrade the whole bar to have my one kind of wine.

@Celia : My experiences haven't been so much my friends. It's more been helping my parents' company work receptions, they are DJs... I have seen too much!

I would say beer and wine with 2 signature drinks is fine and not cheap at all. I've been to a couple of weddings that had just beer and wine and a lot of people mentioned that at least 1 mixed drink would have been nice since beer fills people up/bloating and they just didn't want to being drinking wine all night. And then there's people like me who don't drink beer or wine so I would greatly appreciate a signature drink option

ETA: I agree with Celia... do these people not know how to behave in public? I understand maybe every once in awhile a wedding will have the 1 guest but few and far between

It's up to you. Having beer, wine, and two signature drinks is perfectly fine.

I think beer, wine, and signature drinks would be great! Open bars are fun, but I actually really like signature drinks because they're usually creative, so it's a great opportunity to try something new.

Signature Drinks are a nice way to incorporate your tastes and share that with visiting family and friends, while still giving them an opportunity to loosen up. I'm having themed drinks at my bridal shower (thanks to creative MOHs), and an open bar at the wedding reception. I wouldn't think anything of it if I saw it at a wedding.

Anything bad*. I may just discover a new drink I didn't know I liked.

Also, hark! A date twin! Did you think a patriotic theme for a half second? I think we may give out sparklers but that's about it.

I'm not a beer drinker, but I enjoy both wine and hard liquor. So, personally either package would be fine for me as a guest.

@LiveFree - "Doing beer, wine and a signature drink is gonna save you money and prevent more people from getting black out wasted. " How so?

We are doing beer, wine, champagne, 2 signature drinks, and the common liquors and basic mixers.

It is up to you and your budget. My friend and her husband paid for their wedding themselves and were on a limited budget. They only had beer and wine and I did not think there was anything wrong with that nor did anybody else.

Another option could be to offer a full bar in the beginning, and then switch to beer and wine only at the end of the night. My cousin did that and it cost less, and you prevent people from knocking back liquor drinks and getting wasted at the end of the night.

Haha yes!! Patriotic all the way!! Not so much in my colors.. But the food, july weather, and a sparkler send off of course!!! (: celebrating my Freedom to get married I suppose ?? I could never do a red white and blue wedding but I may incorporate those colors into tastes of cupcakes.. For instance red=strawberries.. So I may use it subtle but not the actual colors lol!!

Good ideas everyone!! Thanks!(: I'm totally going to shoot for beer wine and hopefully she will let me choose 3 liquors and basic mixers just to give people a few options!
