Beach Wedding

Laura, on January 11, 2021 at 1:42 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Hi there all. I had to cancel my wedding at my original vendor since they did not offer outdoor options (long story). I was wondering if any of you did a beach wedding and what worked/didn't work? We are doing March and have limited our guest list as well to be safe.

We didn't get married on the beach, but we had talked about getting married at the state park we got engaged at, but decided against it because of needing permits and the restrictions the park had. The first thing I would look into is seeing if you will need any specific permits to get married where you want and if so how you obtain them and how long it takes. You will also need to find out if there are specific restrictions such as noise. Depending where you want to get married March sounds cold even if you are at the beach so I would also check out the temperature during that time of year. I know I wouldn't want to attend a wedding outside in the cold.

Take a look through the search feature. Type in beach weddings where it says search in the middle of the page.

Be aware that unless you are going a resort which is very expensive, the beach is public and you may get random visitors in pictures. Wind is a huge factor which may drown out your microphone and video. Walking on sand in shoes is impossible so have the option of barefoot.
Some people recommend sunrise or sunset only but do what works for you. No matter how much your guests love you, they may not enjoy getting up before the sun to get ready..same for you since brides tend to take a few hours to get ready.

It is destination so luckily the weather will be really great for that time of year - not too hot and certainly not cold. It is at a resort so no need for on-site permits. The info about the permits for the actual country is helpful though so thank you!

Beach weddings are my favorite!! I compromised with my now husband to do a formal ceremony followed by a reception overlooking the water. If it were up to me alone though- beach for sure ❤️❤️❤️ The wind is such a factor and if you desire candles, go with the Illuminary battery kind. My aunt had a gorgeous beach wedding and her only complaint was the sound of the music was not as clear as she would’ve liked. That’s something to ask your resort about. I’m jealous of your beach wedding 🐚🏝🏖

We got married on the beach in Florida at a resort. A few things to think about. Make sure you find out what permits are needed before making any firm plans. I recommend bare feet on the beach for the ceremony and then shoes for the reception. I would consider the location because we had people in the background of many of our pictures which I didn’t really think about. Consider your guests when you think about attire, shoes, etc. if you do March it won’t be hot so you don’t have to worry about that. I didn’t wear a veil because of the breeze on the beach. Those are the things that come to mind immediately but I’m sure there are plenty of others. Best of luck to you.

I'm having a beach wedding this August and I couldn't be more excited. No shoes, nothing super fancy. We did it through a resort so they are taking care of a lot of details which makes it easier for us. And the ceremony is on the beach but reception in a pier house over looking the water.
