We are getting married in a beach town but not ON the beach. Mainly because the areas of beach we wanted to get married in were either 1) too expensive. Our first preference of condo/place to stay was going to require that we use their facilities for reception if we wanted to get married on their beach property. Was way over budget. 2) no good backup plan. There were public, state beaches but they were first come first serve, meaning if someone else potentially had the same day in mind as you and they set up first, you’re SOL. As well as the backup options (pavilions, etc) not being very nice.

There was a 3rd option for us but the boardwalk to get to the beach was super long & it would’ve been a lot on my grandmother to get from point A to point B so we decided to get married on the lawn of our second choice resort that overlooks the water

Yeah i thought beach weddings were supposed to be cheaper! I’m happy with what we’re doing though. Definitely make sure to read over all the guidelines for whatever beach areas you’re looking at. The first person we ever hired was our planner/coordinator and she has been SUPER helpful since we are planning things from afar.

We are “redoing” our wedding. And we are having a beach destination wedding, but we do it privately. Just with our adult kids and our bonus kid. No guests at all. No stress. Just how I want it since I dated DH (24 years ago).

We decided for Oahu, because our adult kids will babysit our 8 years old. So we thought 1st they won’t get bored and everything is walking distance in Waikiki, 2nd there are more options in regards of venue, florist, make up and hair artists, photographers. If you don’t really care about restaurants, and services, just relax, I would recommend Kauai or Maui. But if you do, Oahu is the best bet.

Key West, FL! We live just a few hours away, so although not necessarily a destination for us, it’ll be considered a destination wedding for the majority of those invited. We’re getting married at the Casa Marina Resort, they have a private beach for ceremony & cocktail hour and we’re having the reception in their beautiful ballroom.
