Beach Wedding - Shoes or no shoes?

CC, on April 6, 2023 at 12:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hey! I'm getting married on a beach in Cancun in August this year and keep changing my mind about shoes! I have my second fitting next week to work on the hem so need to decide.

I'd like to get married in bare feat with some barefoot sandals then change into sandal wedges for the reception or get some nice flat sandals..

I've ordered these as I can wear them again and not just for the wedding but I'm not sure they go with the style of my dress....I know no-one will see them but would love some advice from other beach brides please! Did you wear shoes? If so, heels/flat?

The pic isn't me it's from the site!

Whether or not you choose to wear shoes- you should get those shoes regardless. They're SO CUTE!!!! I want them. Where are they from????

When it comes to deciding shoes, also think about your reception and photos. You may not be on the beach for long and then want shoes for everything else! Either way though I would recommend against heels. Those will be a PAIN in the sand. Definitely some sort of flat, platform or wedge if you wear shoes at all.

When you are on the sand, non-platform, no-heel sandals would be the best (or you could first try them out on the sand and see if they are okay). mainly you just need protection from the hot sun or maybe from shell fragments. The shoes you found would be pretty once you are off the sand.

Beach bride, here! I have flat, super sparkly shoes for the ceremony and peep toe heels for reception. No way would I go barefoot on the sand (HOT HOT HOT)

As someone who lives near the ocean, it is impossible to walk on the sand any shoes, including flip flops. Save the pretty heels for the non sandy ground/sidewalk area

Thank you! I picked them up today Smiley smile They're from New Look and still in stock! I've had them in black for a while so knew they were super comfy. Will see how they go at the fitting but I don't think anyone will see them anyway!

Yeah that's a really good point, I'd probably want some for the reception and pics later on after the ceremony and beach pics!

Thank you! Our ceremony is early evening so I'm hoping we'll be okay in barefoot on the sand for the ceremony and hopefully no shell fragments!! Yeah I was thinking of these for afterwards Smiley smile

Love those shoes thank you for sharing! I'm hoping it won't be too hot on the sand, our ceremony is around 6pm Smiley smile I may get some nice jewelled flats like yours just in case though!

I live in Florida. The sand gets HOT starting in April, so no bare feet for me. Smiley laugh
