Beach Wedding - Pros and Cons

Alexa, on August 15, 2020 at 10:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi everyone. I am planning to have a beach wedding, this has always been my dream. For any wedding planners or recently married couples who have done this what were your takeaways ? What would you consider the pros and cons of a beach wedding.

I haven't planned a beach wedding, but I grew up in a beach city, so this would be my list:

    Pros

    Beautiful backdrop

    Plenty of space

    Nice summer weather

    No need to decorate/minimal decorations

    Cons

    Loud (waves are surprisingly concussive!)

    Not private/Summer tourists

Restrictions (depending on the beach, you may not be able to have chairs, decor, etc)

Sand (getting into shoes, clothes, etc)

    Typically pretty windy

Hopefully someone who has planned a wedding on the beach will chime in as well for you!

I have a coworker who got married on a beach & she gave pretty much the same answers. Also said that the bottom of her dress got very dirty & you can see it in some of the pictures.

My first marriage was on the beach but in an small open chapel/gazebo which was really nice. I knew I absolutely did not want to get married in the sand. Its windy, loud, and not private. Also, if you want to wear heels, not happening. It's very beautiful for pictures but I would suggest an cliff overhang, garden next to the beach or somewhere slightly back off the beach but you still have it in the background.

Thanks for your input. I honestly didn’t even consider the sound of the waves to be honest. Now I’m wondering how that would work with the wedding video if that would be an issue. Thanks so much.

Thanks for responding. I was considering doing sandals under my dress since most likely you won’t even see my feet Lol.

Thanks for that. I was wondering how a dress with a train would work since we’ll be in the sand. I was trying to opt for a less dressy dress if that makes sense or one that you can tie up afterwards or something.

I would imagine most of your wedding video would have a music background. If you’d want to have your vows in there, maybe your videographer could have you read them for the camera before hand so the sound quality isn’t off. The recorded vows could then be played over the footage. Something like this:

We had ours on a balcony overlooking the ocean and the venue/hotel took care of everything. It was perfect because it’s easy for guests but we still got all the beautiful views!

The officiant wore a mic to pick us up, even from back a bit the ocean breeze is still a thing!!!!

I’ll have to look into the balcony overlook places. I think most places here just do directly on the beach. I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks.

Haha, thank you. That wasn’t my wedding (I haven’t gotten to have mine yet due to the pandemic), but it’s one my videographer shot.

I am doing a sunset beach wedding in Florida at vero Beach. We live in Wisconsin so a little challenging but doable. Ours will be private as in no toursist etc will interfere or be around. We are having it at CostaDEste resort and spa. They will supply padded white chairs. Our flowers are real and they are providing the arch.
We are going to have a aisle runner so that will help. Girls are wearing decorated flipflops as am i. I think its doable you may need to make adjustments to make things . For the noise we will have a speaker and a mic close enough to hear with out it being obvious
