Beach Wedding Heels?

Jackie, on June 5, 2019 at 4:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 16

Beach babes! What shoes did you wear to your beach wedding?

Getting married in September on the beach, and I'd love to wear some low-to-mid heels, but I'm worried I'll be sinking into the sand the whole time. Would a block heel work?

I am not a beach bride but it does sound like it would be harder to walk on the beach with heels unless you have an aisle runner in the middle.

so yeah, maybe find some block heels or wedges or nice sandals

My cousin got married on a beach years ago, and she wore this lace things (they went around the ankle and between the toe - think flip flop) and they were super cute and practical. These are similar. If I were getting married on the beach, I'd go bare foot. Then put on some shoes for the reception, if it's not on the beach.

Ok - follow-up question: If I go sandals/barefoot and then switch to heels for the reception, how do I hem my dress?

I just got married on the beach and tried fly’s the night before for my rehearsal and it was really hard so I wore flip flops down to the beach then got married in my bare feet and out my nice heels on for the reception and pictures. It’s not so easy to walk on the beach in shoes. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Where did you hem your dress to? Did you hem it for your height in the heels or bare feet?

I hemmed it for the heels and held it up as I walked on the beach.

I'm getting married in Oct on the beach. I want to go barefoot but the sand will be to hot. I settled on a flat sandal

I’m definitely a beach gal and getting married on the beach. Wearing shoes on the beach is difficult. It also cause sand to “splash” everywhere - meaning you will get sand higher up your leg. Plus the shoe just fills up with sand and gets super heavy - even flip flops. I hated wearing tennis shoes on the beach when I had school fields to the beach to pick up trash. I typically wear flip flops to get to the beach and kick the shoes off before I reach the sand.

i would say think about the typical kids sand box and how much sand piles into the shoe. That’s the beach. Also want to think about the sand getting flung up your leg by the flop of the shoe.

Don’t forget to have baby powder on hand to help remove sand from your legs and feet’s.

Thanks - I'll think about those things. Good tip on the baby powder!

I think so! I'm going to take everyone's advice and go barefoot on the beach, then wear some lower heels for the remainder of the day. Thanks everyone!

Barefoot is a great option for on the beach! You also won't be getting irritated by sand getting in your shoes as you walk down the aisle!!

Have you ever heard of barefoot sandals? Here are some Pinterest pictures of them, but they could be a cute idea for your ceremony if you'd like a little bit of something different!

I wore these: https://www.toms.com/women/natural-yarn-dye-womens-majorca-cutout-sandals. They worked for me. It was easier to walk on the wet sand than the dry sand.
