Beach Wedding Dress Atire

Brittaney, on October 25, 2019 at 12:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hello, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what their guest wore for a beach wedding. We are getting married in Maui, and don't know what the typical wedding atire should be thanks.

For beach weddings, I've seen most people have a more casual dress code considering the temperature/wind/sand. So for women, instead of cocktail dresses and heels they might wear a sundress with sandals. For men, instead of a suit or dress slacks and button down, they may wear khakis and a polo. You can call for a formal dress code on your wedding website if that's what you would prefer, but I wouldn't expect many to oblige because it's less convenient/comfortable for them.

If it were me, I think I'd say "dress code: beach casual". Then if they were to google "wedding beach casual" they'd find articles with what to wear Smiley smile

I had a beach wedding and didn’t mention attire. Most women wore sundresses.

We put on our website that attire would be cocktail attire for a beach venue thinking comfy but slightly dressed up. We saw everything from sundresses and button-up shirts with sports coats to dressy capris and tops. My younger brother wore a short sleeved button-up and cargo shorts. It's all a crap shoot no matter what you say.

Lol thanks so much! I see you also got married on the beach. I want to wear a veil, but heard mix things about it. How was it for you?

It wasn't too windy and the veil didn't get in my way but definitely had a mind of it's own. I'm glad it was a fingertip length. Two days before the handfasting we had a private ceremony and the wind was too much to have a veil. Some of the pictures after the ceremony were incredible with the veil though. I'm really glad I wore it. I switched to a crown of ivy and lily of the valley after pictures, I didn't want to wait for the first dance at that point.

We also got married on the beach and just said “beach casual”. You will get a little bit of everything but mostly sundresses for women and khakis and nice shirts for men. We did have a few men with nice dress shorts which was fine because it was warm.

Maui tends to be very windy in the afternoon. You can definitely wear whatever you want for a beach wedding, just keep this in mind as you choose your gown. Friends of mine moved there a couple years ago and we went out for their wedding. Their venue was on the beach, and she wore a ball gown style dress. Their pictures are gorgeous. I am glad that I wore a maxi length dress instead of something short because I definitely would have been worried about the skirt blowing up. For your wedding dress, just choose something that suits your personality and the vibe of your wedding. There’s no wrong answer!
