Beach wedding: arch or no arch?

LadyPearl, on June 29, 2016 at 9:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

So I've been going back and forth on this. Arch or no arch for a beach wedding? I love the look of an arch decorated with draped fabric and flowers, on the flip side I also love the simplicity of not having an arch. Sometimes arches are a bit distracting. Thoughts? I especially want to hear from other beach brides.

Beautiful either way! I had an oceanside wedding and we had a flower circle on the ground instead of an arch. You have options!

I am faced with the same dilemma, but I think I am going to cave and get the arch. It frames the couple nicely and looks great in photos. You could go simple with chiffon draping and save some money.

I have also seen bamboo sprays on either side of the aisle look nice too.

I am having a simple arch, it is included in my ceremony package and think it will make for some gorgeous wedding shots. But I also wouldn't terribly miss it if I didn't have one, I mean we will be on a beach in the Caribbean! That is pretty enough on its own!

We are skipping the arch, thought it took away from the direct view of the ocean.

We are having a bamboo arch with draped fabric and flowers. I think it really centers the scene.

I keep seeing archless options that I love. Prime example, today's Maui BAM!

I would do an arch if we could. We're having a hard time finding one that FH can fit under comfortably that we also both like.

Michele that's a great idea! Hmm, now I'm even more motivated to think further out of the box.

Sarah, how tall is your fiance?

As a Photographer I will advise that you take into account where the sun will be during your ceremony. Arches are nice, but as a very attentive wedding photographer, I have had arches create unsightly shadows on the bride and grooms faces which are either a pain to edit out or can't be edited out. Do some research based on the time of day and the direction of the sun at that time of day and let that be one of the deciding factors. I mean if great photos are important that is something I know for a fact couples don't consider at all. If the sun would cast a shadow during the ceremony and you choose to have an arch, do yourself and photographer a favor and stand outside of the shadow created by the arch. Hope this helps you...

Congrats and have an awesome wedding!
