Baskets for guests in bathrooms

Megan, on December 6, 2015 at 1:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

I need advice! so considering doing those baskets in bathrooms full of little things, ie: ibruprofen, mascara, tampons, etc. but wondering if this is worth it, like do guests usually use this? or would it be a waste of money? also to those who did it, what did you put in the guys basket? any advice is welcome!! thanks in advance!

I get excited like a kid on Christmas when I see bathroom baskets. Go to the dollar store and fill it up. It shouldn't break your bank to put travel sized spray deodorant, maybe some of those individually wrapped floss ups, Tylenol, (I wouldn't wear mascara that others have used. That's extremely unsanitary). These things need to be single use or not come in contact with someone's body. Stick deodorant is a no no....

Not a big fan. Definitely not using the community mascara. Most women have purses full of all the crap we need to make it through the night. At best maybe some breath mints/ gum /mouthwash with little cups.

Here's a pretty good link for you to look at as far as supplies go.

I have also been debating about having these baskets. On one hand they are super cute. But truly I feel people(especially woman) before going anywhere pack what they think they will need in their purses. I probably will not do these. It will be one more thing to do and spend money on that I think will be looked over by most guest.

We had baskets and several items were used: Tissues/kleenex, mints, gum, Tums, mouthwash (be sure to leave disposable little cups next to it), and someone stole the package of hairbands and the mini lotion bottle from the women's bathroom. Nobody took tampons/pads nor the band-aids, or opened the spray deodorant we included in the women's basket or the cologne in the men's basket.

Personally I think it an unnecessary spend on the budget.

Ooooooh.... I know a few people in our family are lactose intolerant. We'll be including Lactaide and Immodium caps just in case. 99% of our food has some form of cheese lol. DH is lactose intolerant, but he takes a Lactaide and "handles it like a man" lol.

I'm debating this myself! I might try to find free samples of things to include online

I'm going to make little ones with tampons, floss, mouthwash, mints, travel sized hairspray, etc. Simple things that I'll just keep if they're unused. Not necessary but I think they are cute.

I am making emergency kits for the entire bridal party. Stuff that's left over will go in the bathroom kits. I will be buying a few extras on top to. I am making sure I buy every thing cheap. My baskets will include mints, floss picks, bandaids, tampons, pads, hair ties, and a few other things if a see anything cheap and nice lol.

Are your guests the only ones who will be using that bathroom. If not, I wouldn't bother with it. My ceremony and reception are at a hotel, so the restrooms are public. I'm not making baskets for that reason.

The baskets are a super cute idea! Search Pinterest for ideas of what to include. But please don't put any type of community makeup in it. Makeup isn't a community tool. There's too big a chance for infections and sickness

I personally only put things in there that I saw as really necessary and that we would use in our home afterwards. I skipped things that wouldn't really upset someones night not to have like hairspray and only did things like tampons, advil, bandaids, kleenex, etc. Things that if you needed and didn't have could really take away from your enjoyment of the night. Plus, some things I was able to just take from our home and put back what wasn't used. I already had the basket (if I hadn't they sell them at the dollar store so NBD) and for example I use a menstrual cup now so I was able to put my old tampons in there that I don't use anymore. I use flossers all the time so I just threw a handful in a ziplock and put that in there. I got little pocket packs of kleenex because I thought if anyone needed one they might need a bunch and this way they could have some to take with them. Then I just put our bottle of advil in there. Etc.

I don't think I spent more than $5 and if it possibly made someones night better then that's fine with me plus we just put everything in our own bathroom afterwards so no money wasted.

I think it's cute, plus most of the stuff if it goes unused would be stuff you could plan to use anyway.

I think they're a nice touch, as a guest I always appreciate them! But you will definitely have things left over. The good thing is, the stuff you put in them you can use around the house, plus in the grand scheme of weddings they are such a minor cost. So if you are very tight on the budget, definitely skip it.

I'm not doing these, I think it's a cute idea but it's another big expense.

I am still using things from my cousin's wedding (I made her bathroom baskets as a favor to her) and it has been a year and a half later...and her wedding was more than double the size of mine. I'm skipping it.

I made couple for our wedding, they were pretty cheap and painless to put together, plus they were a hit. Are they necessary? No, but it's a nice touch.
