Bar packages??

FH and I cannot come to an agreement on our bar package. Neither of us drinks much. Our families have varying opinions. We're planning on having 200 guests (ages mid 20s-late 60s). Which of these bar packages would you choose with a fair amount of drinkers?

(Most of the discussion is whether it's worth putting the other $400 into our house fund or if it's worth splurging for our guests since we've saved in other areas and are fairly under budget)

Wow, I'm reading everyone's comments, does this include dinner as well for some of you? We're paying $165/person includes open bar, Venetian, cocktail hour and the dinner

I actually forgot this is actually $1 higher than the prices we were given...don't hate me! Venue was originally allowing outside alcohol but got a liquor license and now provide packages. This is new booking pricing. They discounted it to $5/$7 respectively for previous bookings. They are pretty on par for food costs compared to other venues/catering we looked at in northeast Ohio but their bar packages are a bit lower even at the $6/$8. They may adjust in the future but for now. That is the per person price for the whole night. I included the whole bar package setup below. They are incredibly generous and I'm so glad we booked with them. They are giving us access to any decor they already have or we're welcome to bring our own (card boxes, cake stands, centerpieces, etc).

Oh hell at those prices I'd upgrade. However, it's totally acceptable to offer the basic package if you want.

That is so fucking cheap. In the grand scheme of things what is $400? But honestly I don't think it matters. most people, aside from serious drinkers, can't tell the difference.

Go with either, but get it in writing. I honestly don't even know how they could cover product, bartenders and insurance unless it's a lost leader to get people to book everything else.

I agree @Celia. They have to be pulling money from another area of the business to cover those costs. There's no other way. OP are you 100% positive that it's not those prices per person, per hour?

For perspective, we're paying $50/head for food but this includes everything for the venue (food, basic linens, china, flatware, security, cake boxes and cake cutting...originally included bartenders and wash as well but looks like they've moved that info to bat page). It also includes some light appetizers (we plan to upgrade this a bit) and I believe some assorted desserts.

Also @celia the $5/$7 pricing was sent to us on their letterhead with the notice of the change to their bar policy. It's listed the same way as the picture I posted except with the adjusted pricing. But everything is labeled per head, no mention of per hour or anything else

Go with the select! There are plenty of popular brand names on there and you will save the $400.

I would probably save the money because those brands don't look bad. I'm shocked by the prices, though. That's less than I paid per person, and I just had beer, wine, and mimosas. I also bought the alcohol and juices myself and just hired bartenders to serve it. It's crazy that you can have a full bar for so little.

Either package is perfectly fine! And as others have mentioned... Those prices! Wow! Even with the added information you posted, please do confirm that the prices are per person per event (versus per hour or drink). Get that confirmation in writing as well.
