I wanted to share my story in hopes that it will bring some hope and excitement for couples going through the stress and heartache of cancelled, postponed, and re-planned weddings due to Covid-19. Mid April we made the hard decision to postpone our May 16th wedding. Originally we were having about 60 guests at an outdoor Austin hill country chapel ( Chapel Dulcinea ) & our reception was going to be on a river boat nearby. Everything was all set to go. I cried so much after we postponed just not knowing when and if the wedding we dreamed up would ever be a possibility and not wanting to wait another year or more to marry the man I loved. Once Texas begin its re opening phase and was allowing small gatherings we quickly decided to move forward and get married at the chapel a week later than planned. We had our children, parents, & siblings present. Thankfully our photographer also happened to be my fiance's sister who is a bad ass Austin wedding photographer!!! We rented out separate cabins for everyone ( in order to maintain social distancing ). Had an outdoor lunch/dinner of BBQ outside and then a beautiful sunset ceremony that we facebook live streamed to our guests we couldn't have physically present, with cake and champagne at the chapel afterwords. It was the perfect day! I hope couples are able to find joy in this hard time and if you're out there wondering if you'll regret changing your wedding plan my advice is do what your heart tells you. I absolutely wouldn't change our day for anything. It was so stress free and intimate. Now for some breakdowns and vendor reviews!
Accommodations - Lucky Arrow Retreat - This place is several acres of different style cabins, & glamping tee pees with an event center, pool, & beer garden on site. This place is meant to hold big weddings for everyone to stay on the property and enjoy the outdoors. With no big weddings going on we were able to get reservations at the last minute. I definitely plan to host something here again with the rest of our friends and family at some point. Such a cool place and amazing staff!!!
Venue - Chapel Dulcinea
This place is absolutely gorgeous and its also free!!!!
Officiant - Spike Gillespie - Recently featured in The New York Times discussing weddings in the time of Corona, She wrote a beautiful ceremony and included a commitment section for my two teens from a previous marriage - really solidified us as a family unit. Both the kiddos were crying happy tears. It was beautiful.
Photographer - Briana Purser Photography - They say never work with family but I cant imagine and we never considered having anyone else capture this day for us. We love her dearly and she knocked it out the park!!!
Flowers - Christie Turner Designs - I was sooooo excited for the florals out of anything. I was obsessed with our wedding invitations that were the Birch Monarch by Rifle Paper Co and working with Dana she captured my vision even more so than I could of ever dreamed. Dana was awesome and so understanding of us postponing our original plan and jumped immediately when we told her a week out our new plan. They rocked it! 100%
Cupcakes - We found Well Yea Cakes in Dripping Springs last minute during graduation weekend and they were able to rock out some amazing and pretty cupcakes for us.
Here are some sneak peaks pro pics!
