I just realized I never made a post about our amazing honeymoon! We left our house early in the morning on Monday, July 15th and drove to Nashville for the first night of our honeymoon. It's about a 16 hour drive total to Destin from where we live, so we broke up the drive! We left Nashville on Tuesday morning and got to Destin, Florida that afternoon! It was the most amazing, relaxing week!
First stop: Luke Bryan's bar in Nashville!
We went on a carriage ride on Broadway! When on your honeymoon you do honeymoon type things!

Our first photo in Destin! We were headed out to our condo's pool! We stayed at Sandpiper Cove.
Our first dinner in Destin! Our condo complex has a restaurant on site - Louisiana Lagniappe. It has a gorgeous view of the harbor!
The beautiful, BEAUTIFUL Emerald Coast! Destin is known for its emerald colored waters and white, soft sand! We took a beach walk our first night.
CRAB ISLAND! Probably my favorite part of our honeymoon! We chartered a boat to take us out to Crab Island, a sandbar just outside of the Destin Harbor that has knee to waist deep water. You can only get to it by boat or jet ski! We drank, floated, walked around, and met some amazing people out there!
That night, we had to wait TWO HOURS to be seated for dinner at Boshamps Oyster House, the best seafood in Destin. It was TOTALLY worth the wait as the food was fabulous, and we had an amazing harbor view and 10% off drinks while we waited! I had a delicious Bloody Mary and my husband enjoyed some local Florida craft beer! For dinner I had the fried shrimp (YUM) and my husband ordered their special dish, The "Original" Snapper (fresh caught red snapper) and it was DELICIOUS.

Day 3 was BEACH DAY! My favorite day. I'm such a beach bum and could live there! It was such a beautiful, warm sunny day. Fun fact: it was hotter in Iowa (where we live) than it was in Destin that day! It was like 113 degrees back home and we had a balmy 85! We kept bragging to all of our friends, lol!
That night we were scheduled to go on a dolphin cruise with SeaBlaster. It was SO much fun but I didn't get many photos because I was afraid my phone would fly out of my hand! It was a very fast boat. We saw a family of dolphins and a few other dolphins swimming alone! Afterwards we hung around the Destin Harborwalk because every Thursday night in the summer they have fireworks! While we waited for fireworks we had a Margaritaville margarita (NOT worth the $18... we have better margs where we live honestly). We also watched the charter boats bring in red snapper and filet them! Those guys are PROS! This photo is us after the fireworks!
Our last day in Destin! We made it another beach day because, WHY NOT?! My husband loved practicing his backfloat in the waves.

We had one last excursion - parasailing over the Gulf of Mexico! My husband had never been parasailing before, and I had only done it on a lake. This was SO much better! They dipped us into the water as we came back onto the boat! It was such a fun way to end our honeymoon!

On our way back home to Iowa, we stayed in Bowling Green, Kentucky where I have family for the night. We stayed at their GORGEOUS home and wished we could have stayed longer as we never get to see them, but our cat and dog were waiting for us at home! Our best friends house/cat/dog-sat for us while we were gone. We got lots of puppy snuggles that night when we got home!!
We decided we are going to make Destin a yearly trip for us! Whether we go alone or bring friends! We also found out our city has direct flights to Destin, so no more driving!!
