Just Said Yes April 2020

Bad wedding idea??

Kristy, on August 23, 2019 at 1:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hello all!! I’m getting married in April 2020. My dream wedding was to just have fiancé and I on somebody’s beach with out toes in the sand. I set that up. We will do a symbolic ceremony in Cozumel during our honeymoon cruise. But....for those that can’t sail to see us, I decided to have a courthouse ceremony at home. I feel obligated to take my guests out for dinner afterwards. I estimate about 30 guests and that’s kinda expensive. Would it be tacky to have the courthouse ceremony then invite everyone back to our house and eat here? Thinking of renting a tent with table and chairs and having a cookout. Yes I’m on a budget as we decided to put money towards our fun. Hope that doesn’t sound too selfish.

Hey food’s food, sounds like a good time to me. You could dress it up a little with some simple flowers from the grocery store.

That sounds perfect. They should be thankful you’re having a separate ceremony at home for them to attend, so anything more than that is an added bonus!

That's not tacky at all...noting wrong with being cost effective. It's you and your FH's special day and that is all that matters. We are doing our engagement party and rehearsal dinner in our backyard for that reason. Renting a big tent, tables & chairs and working it out that way. Enjoy your cruise!!!

Nothing wrong with it, so long as the house will allow those 30 guests to sit down and eat dinner. If you exceed the capacity of the house, you'll often find that the cost of a "backyard" wedding mounts rapidly, often to more than that of a regular venue.
