Bacne? Back Acne scars, help!

Yvette0630, on February 6, 2014 at 2:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I didn't want to let my bacne be the deciding factor of what dress I was going to get.

Now that I have my dress... Any tips to:

1) cover scars

2) reduce bumps

It's not all over my back, just down the base of my neck down mid back. So I am going to have my hair down with loose curls ( I love my hair down anyways)

Any other brides with the same issue?

I would say spot treat any lesions with a benzoyl peroxide and wear breathable fabric tops as things get closer. Also, tanning might help smooth the skins appearance. I think they do make powdered body powders that are tinted or shimmery. Check Victoria secret or sephora. Or maybe one of those little sparkly tool jacket things the bridal shops sell. How long is your veil? Does it cover your back? Don't stress! I'm sure you'll be beautiful!

There are many things that can help! I you don't already start drinking tons of water, it helps your whole body including skin! Also you can take the vitamin biotin ( or just buy the hair skin and nails vitamin) also extra vitamin e will really help your skin (you can rub it on your skin and take it as a pill) also coconut oil and tea tree oil are awesome for it! And all the oils (especially vitamin e) will help with the scars. One more note if you have anyone that can see you in the shower have them scrub your back very well with regular dial antibacterial hand soap, and sleep with a clean shirt on that covers our whole back or change your sheets everyday. Tanning only darkens the skin it is very bad for it and can irritate it more! The coconut oil will help the most with bumps

Other than the usual skin advice... you could get a lace (or whatever material) jacket to cover up if you get a strapless dress. I don't look good in strapless and wanted to get straps but my dress came with a matching lace jacket so it covers my upper back, shoulders and arms. That could be an option if you are really worried and want to have it covered.

I actually used to suffer from this! I started using an acne formulated body soap just on my back, it's the last thing I do before I leave the shower. I also changed my shampoo and conditioner to one that doesn't contain sulphates! Sometimes left over conditioner will leave residue that causes breakouts, and sulphates (which is an ingredient in shampoo) is used to degrease car engines, so sometimes your body over compensates for this by producing more oil.

Not really...I have moles and freckles. An occasional black head. Last night, I had Fh searching for them and could not believe him when he said there was nothing. I told him that my daughter was going to be the official blackhead checker! Do I have to get her a gift for that? A tee shirt? Smiley winking

I would do some light tanning also. I used to have AWFUL acne on my entire face, arms, and back. I took Accutane to clear all of it up. I have scarring also, but mostly just on my face. A light powder make up usually covers that up, thankfully.

Anyway, I'd always notice my skin to be a lot smoother after spending a little bit of time in the sun. I have super sensitive skin (I burn if i'm in the sun longerhan 30 minutes without sunscreen), so I'd burn quicker than probably most people here. If you have relatively good skin that can tan well, this will help reduce the site of any scarring on your back.

To be honest with you though, I'm usually the only one that notices any scarring on my face. I have people tell me all of the time that I have great looking skin (when I'm not wearing make up), so no matter what you do, I'm sure no one will notice the scarring as much as you would. Smiley smile

I would check with your dermatologist. Also, your makeup artist should be able to cover anything the derm can't fix!

Do facials (back-cials?) help? I've actually never had a facial and was too afraid to do so because I heard it can flare it back up.

Try bath salts - it won't make the scars go away but it will help with current acne.

Also if your skin is anything like mine, tanning is not necessarily a good idea - I get mild hyperpigmentation from acne and tanning just makes it worse.

I have this issue, though it's no longer my back that's the major problem area, it's my shoulders. As I have a strapless dress, it's a pretty obvious area, unfortunately. I'm honestly just planning on having the MUA cover it up, so it won't show up in pictures and such. I'm not going to stress myself out even more about trying to get rid of it, when it's been an ongoing issue since I was a teen. -.-; The dermatologist I used to go to tried everything BUT Accutane, and I refused that when it was suggested because of the possible later birth defects (lots of people will tell you that it's safe after 6 months, but for women, whose eggs are already formed, it's actually not 100% known whether it can cause issues with the eggs.) There's also been a LOT of people who have had to have liver transplants due to the drug's effects, long after they've finished taking it. Just wasn't worth it to me.

I've also tried Proactive and just about every other over-the-counter fix, and NOTHING has worked. Smiley sad
