Backyard wedding parking!

Lindsey, on January 24, 2017 at 6:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

We may decide on a larger backyard wedding instead of a established venue. If we go that route what would be the best parking option. So far I've thought about maybe a shopping center near by and having a shuttle to and from the Estate. Thoughts?

As long as you have a shuttle and approval from whatever parking lot you'll have them use, that sounds fine.

Backyard weddings are sooo much work so more power to you. Have you considered bathrooms, tent rentals, silverware, linens, etc? Whose backyard are you using?

This is just one of the many hurdles you will have to jump if you do a backyard wedding. Many people think this will save them money but it actually tends to cost the same if not more and you have to figure all of the small details like this out. I don't know what you should do about parking but I do suggest re thinking a backyard wedding.

I would contact local businesses and ask if they would allow even parking in their parking lot. A shuttle would be needed to transport guests. Also, don't forget about having a rain/too cold/ too hot plan and renting bathrooms.

We have just started looking into a backyard wedding. We are super laid back and want our wedding to be the same. We would rent the property for the whole weekend and it would have a house with multiple bathrooms and what not. We want a casual dinner vibe. Thinking a pizza bar. We aren't set on a backyard wedding but interested in it and wouldn't be doing it to save money. That's just the vibe we want.

Make sure the property you rent allows you to have events/weddings onsite. Many don't.

We think about 75 people. Yes finding a place that allows events is a big part too. We have already been looking at that. Love that we are both LindseyO

Pizza bar is a lot more difficult to pull off than you imagine - either your pizza is all sitting there getting cold, or guests wait forever as it's made on-site. Not that it's impossible but something to consider (maybe having several different stations or renting hot plates). But you'll want to look at "event homes" specifically because normal properties won't allow you to have a wedding there.

We're doing a backyard wedding, at my sister's home. She offered her house because it's a huge, beautiful property. PP are correct in saying that it is a lot of work, and not a cheaper route. HOWEVER, i am very much enjoying the process of planning and customizing every single detail myself. Putting out fires. Dealing with the unexpected. I'm enjoying the process, it doesn't stress me out. ...but if that sounds stressful for you, then yep maybe look for other options.

With all that said: I have the same problem right now with parking. We are going to just do street parking, it's not so bad in this neighborhood luckily.

If you're going to have guests park at a lot off site, I'd be very cautious, the last thing you want is for those cars to get towed! Smiley smile

All of those details are what sounds fun to me! I've been a planner since I was tiny. I don't want to deal with restrictions on vendors I use and all that. However we are still looking at venues going to an open house tomorrow.

I'm doing a backyard wedding and I'm having my guests park at a school around the corner from my house or on the street. I'm not providing a shuttle because it is within walking distance

Valet parking is the best answer.

We are also doing a backyard wedding and reception at our house! Decided to put all the money into our backyard...lighting, plantings, flowers...flowers....flowers. I already have tables and linens. Only thing I have to rent is chairs for the wedding ceremony. We are even building a dance floor. Wedding arch. We have a caterer ( I am buying the food...he will prep and serve...just heavy appetizers, desserts wine and beer), dj, photographer, officiant...parking on the street. House will also be open to all...small wedding..second one for us...only about 50 people. Lots of work! stuff like painting, planting, installation of lights, etc. etc. But meaningful for both of us.
